World champion boxer Manny Pacquiao has had more than 50 professional fights. But none may be more important than the battle he has joined against the trafficking of tens of thousands of women and children.
Pacquiao, who is also a lawmaker in his native Philippines, teamed up with campaigner Cecilia Flores-Oebanda, who has spent 20 years trying to protect victims of sex slavery and forced labor.
CNN spent two years documenting her struggle as she enlisted the help of Pacquiao. The resulting full length film premieres on CNN International on May 17 and 18. Watch the trailer here.
To draw worldwide attention to the horrendous crimes and to help the victims, CNN and iReport is joining forces with the End it Movement, which launched its red X campaign in February.
Download the Fighters-End It boxing glove here, share it with your friends and join The Fighters to end modern-day slavery.
The Fighters shows how one person can make a difference on the ground. End It helps by raising awareness in countries hundreds or thousands of miles away.
From February 1 through April 9, End It encouraged people to look at modern-day slavery - many of them learning about the extent of the issue for the first time - and to mark an X on their hand as a symbol of their support.
Bryson Vogeltanz, chief steward for End It, said: “The Fighters is a powerful, real-life story of what is happening in the Philippines. End It has hundreds of thousands of people who now know about slavery and they want to do more. They want to change their lives to help end slavery.
“People like Cecilia are doing the groundwork of rescue, restoration and prevention. We are the awareness side, promoting what they are doing. There are hundreds of fighters like Cecilia who are in the trenches doing great work.”
He added: “Whether civil rights or apartheid or modern-day slavery, it ends when ordinary people use their influence. When we make it a priority in our lives, in our part of the world, then the world can change.”
How very Filipino, a noble cause wearing the face of a gambling, womanizing demigod. He's a great boxer, but beyond that he's an embarrassment in anything else he touches or comes near.
How did you know, Expat Will? I guess you were there when it all happened?
Don't judge the man when you really know nothing about him in real life. At least he's trying to help a cause for others. What about you? What have you done lately to your fellow humans?

Angeles said P210 million of the P300 million from the USAID remained unaccounted for. “However, what is clear at the moment, based on evidence, is that receipts for P41 million had been faked,” said the NBI antifraud chief.
Angeles said the NBI probe had established that the order to manufacture the fake receipts came from the VFFI president.
“In a meeting, the bookkeepers, including the whistle-blower, were allegedly ordered by its president to fake receipts to fill in the gap of unsubstantiated expenses,” she said.

Expat Will: you know absolutely nothing about Manny and the wonderful works he has done in his home country. If you did you would have more respect. How many other athletes, particularly boxers, bother to care about or get involved in anything other than themselves? Manny took his time and his own money to help flood victims in the southern regions. He donates his own money to helping kids through numerous charities in his country and building infrastructure in his congressional district. What have you done for anyone other than run your uninformed mouth?
Sorry to burst your bubble - he ran for Congress because as he said, he doesn't want to use his money to give to people - so he ran and won a seat in philippine congress and spent all of his time there preparing for fights that earned him millions. Outside of boxing ring, Filipinos do not respect Pacquiao.
Agree. Thank you for pointing this out.
I would never defend the practice, but it absolutely unstoppable. It is growing by leaps and bounds all over South East Asia, especially in that place that blitzes the TV with never ending ads for "Malaysia. Truly Asia" BS
Let us all extend our help in our smallest ways in supporting this cause for humanity. Let us be more vigilant than ever to end all forms of crimes against humanity specially against the weak and helpless by reporting to proper authorities/organisations, this way we can make a difference even only once in our lifetime..
Boxing is a barbaric and violent sport and should not be used for any causes where the victims themselves suffer violence!!! CNN, I am very disappointed in you.
Boxing is a combat sport, where people contest to showcase their athletic prowess. Yes, it might be more injury-prone than other sports, but the people involved are taking the risks with full knowledge of the consequences. What they do takes place in the ring and any altercation outside can lead to severe sanctions or even criminal prosecution.
If you don't like the sport, it is absolutely okay to criticize it. But, don't use your hatred simply as an excuse to attack someone who is using his popularity to combat true social evils.
What color is the sky in your strange, naive world?
Boxing is a sport (or a martial art if you want to get technical) and done between two completely willing athletes. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you get to pass judgement on others who do.
Boxing is now a 'martial art'? LOL
a) The fad of "share to stop xyz" is finally dying on fb. Please don't encourage it CNN.
b) Doesn't seem very philanthropic considering the only logo on it is CNN's. Seems more like a lame attempt at viral marketing.
I don't get it. People think that if you "share" or "Like" something on Facebook, the problem will be solved. I notice that we still have cancer, animal abuse, GMO food etc. All things like that do is provide more user accounts for the scammers. IF they want to stop the problem, they should finance groups of people who whould go after the perps.
And "we" still have people like you and others that use Facebook, which is a pure bs site.
The End It Movement is pushing to create awareness of modern day slavery which is happening everywhere, even in the smallest cities and towns. Sharing it on Facebook helps people realize the problem exists, which then results in people donating money and resources to stop it.
I realize not all things shared on Facebook are legit but it can be a very useful tool to spread messages.
You should share the picture of the boxing glove with the red X on it – traffickers will see it, and turn themselves in to the authorities. It'll totally work – remember how social media caught Kony last year?
What is it like out there in space where you apparently are?
End it Movement is a great group! this needs more awareness!! Good job CNN!
Putting this glove does about as much as those stupid Co-Exist bumper stickers, absolutely nothing.
@ Matt
Really, it does absolutely nothing?
I'm assuming the picture on CNN's homepage was what made you click on this article? So now you know about the End it Movement and are aware that slavery is still happening. Looks like the picture served its purpose.
I am a Filipina, a domestic worker abroad, I work hard to feed my family.... I am proud to be Pinoy right now and I am proud of my fellow countrymen espcially my Idol Pacquiao.... He is not only a true Fighter in the Boxing Ring but also for the rights of Filipino People. May God bless the people who R fighting for others! GO GO GO PINOY!
D-U-H.................
Well this is really good news for the Filipinos, at least now, we are not featured as bastion of illegal acts but already a protector of rights and fighters of victims of exploitation and abuses. Makes you proud of your kababayans! Let's support them.... This is one big leap for Filipinos!!
Philippines has been getting a bad rap for years. "A country of maids", " most corrupt country", blah, blah, blah. It is neither of those. Filipinos are strong, resilient, kind and friendly. It takes more than the 'all too often calamities' to knock Pinas down. I am glad to call Dumaguete my (half-time) home.
GO GO GO PINOY! 🙂
Although I may not bet on his (boxing) fights-(No payoff, always favored) but, I will put my money him
being a future President of Philippines.
My idol is a human trafficking advocate! Whatever you think about boxing or whatever, we can all agree trafficking is bad.
Hey there! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any
trouble with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing several weeks of hard work due to no back
up. Do you have any methods to prevent hackers?
Is a excelent project!!.. How can I began that in my country?¿.... GO PACQUIO!!
The Philippines wants to find blame with foreigners and they are part of the problem but the biggest blame and problem are Philippinos themselves. Corrupt government, police, people, and Catholic Church. Blame the tens of thousands of Philippino men who get their girlfriends and wives pregnant then dump them. Manny Pacqiuao will do nothing because he is a typical rich Philippino who cares about nothing but money. But, hey in the story he has a beautiful Cadillac Escalade!!! Another CNN puff piece that pulls heart strings but doesn’t ever dig into the truth.
Catholic Church #1. No abortions, no rubbers, no divorce. Screw all churches.
This conversation is missing the point that children from the Philippines are being misused and sometimes tortured.
This has to stop. The illegal slave trade is a $32 Billion dollar industry that is fighting back against those who try
to save these innocent children.
What, this is incredible, please let something be done fast to put a stop to this madness.
Thanks CNN for airing "The Fighters" for the second time to give chance to those who missed watching it.
A remarkable story for a remarkable cause, indeed. We support you in your efforts to end modern-day slavery.
Your 'proud' presentation of a serious problem, seems to be going badly wrong in 2 respects.
You are making 'filmstars' out of well-meaning people.
However much I appreciate CNN-I, must I really watch your constant bombardment – at least 4 times per hour ?
It simply works adversely !
I think if more people get involved like Pacquio is doing then we can save the children of our planet...What governments are doing anything for the children of the world so you go Pacquio and continue the great work you are doing
It’s tremendous blog, I desire to be like you
