Baby opens door into Indian trafficking ring

In a New Delhi hospital, a two-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a teenager brought her there three weeks ago, unconscious with severe head injuries and bruises, fractured arms and human bite marks covering her tiny body. All of India began following her ordeal through newspapers and television.

Police investigating the baby's case unearthed a suspected ring of human trafficking. The details sparked outrage among authorities and the public, who say the case raises a host of questions about child abandonment, exploitation and the poor treatment of girls and women in the world's second most populous nation.

Now the baby, named Falak by doctors, has thrust an ugly side of Indian society into the national spotlight.

You betray your Pakistani origin dude... There are bad characters in every society and every country. You only show your IQ by making bigoted statements.

Take a chill pill.... the issue is being handled well in India.

I feel sick reading this story. I know that many around the world suffer abuse very similar or worse, but because I am an Indian, I feel responsible and humiliated by the conditions in our country. And it doesn't just happen amongst the poor. There are many people who hide all kinds of abuses because they can.
Women around the world need to be protected, and we should be aware of the situations and help when we can, should, and must.

II have worked with Indians and their culture is grossly repugnant. If the Indian is below you he treats you like a king (jumping around you like a puppy) If he happens to be above you then he would treat you like dirt.
I have confronted them and ask why. It goes down to the Cast system, if you happen to be in a cast. Everybody under your cast has no value as a person. That is the reason India is full of garbage, is because they find degrading to clean and pick their own garbage so it piles up.

They rather live with garbage than pick it up..

Treating you like a king, it is called as " brown nosing" here in US. Unfortunately, your comments have no relevance to the poor baby's sad story.

Because the higher cast thinks that everybody on a cast below theirs have no human value..

As family man from rural India, this story has hurt me the most. This is similar to the toddler that was driven over and killed in China by many negligent drivers. That story and this one and many more like these make me cry and my whole family was in tears when we saw this on TV. However, we should not feel helpless because every day we should all do what we can in small ways to help such fellow human beings especially children. We should provide education, food, and emotional help to such children. We are doing in our own small ways hope everyone can do that part. Baby Falak each day I prayfor you and hope that God gives you a better life, you do not deserve this, no one does. I want to say sorry to you that we human beings are still animals. A little angel like you deserves a better world.

Your words are very true. The death of little YueYue in China, open up the eyes and minds of many not just in China itself but around the world. I am in Australia a world apart and it touched me deeply how a child was left to died alone on the road after being run over, how the human race has seem to have lost its compassion and moral to help a dying child. However I am starting to see that there is still some kindness in the world as her story has changed the law over there and who knows how many children have been saved from an horrific death such as hers.. So, share this story, as hard as it is to believe it is true and it is happening, keep it in the spot light, make it international news , keep up the momentum just like YueYue story until something is done. Until a change is made however small. There are people out there that will help fight for justice for this baby girl. India is not like the Bollywood movies. Stories of abandoned children , mostly girls and the abuse of women are always abundant and have been happening for years and years but they are always quietly taken away from the international focus, why ? I can only sense that it seems like a case of turning a blind eye and maybe the reality is not so bad. Its time that the Indian government wakes up to itself, it is there and it will only get worse if it is not addressed. It is a humanitarian disaster waiting to explode. My prayers are with this baby girl... and all the girls and women of India.

Seriously, if nothing is done on dis issue by d government, then their so called growing economy is useless. Except the government has a hand in this though. What r d police there for. Initiate task forces to look into the issue. Let them work hand in hand with intelligence units. Dis is unfair to the woman folks. I'm a guy but I know I'd do anything to protect my mother and sisters. Without the mothers been there to take care of their children, how do u get a better future or are the children of today not the future of 2moro again?

So?? Have you read the child abuse stories in America? raping their 5 week old babies , I dont see the difference with how they treat their children and babies to India. Humans are just sick and we deserve to be wiped out.

Not just in America Con, it happened in the UK too, a 1 month old , beaten, raped, all ribs broken so yes I agree with you the human race deserve to be wiped out.... but we seem to be doing a pretty good job at it ourselves, if we keep at it like this we probalay wont see beyond a couple of years on earth

i really sad fot dat poor baby but m very happy dat a small baby made us to awake and araise rather dan a politician or any ..... and i really feel dat indian is the most underdevlpd country and it will remain the same forever ... we hav people like kiran bedi and anjum chopra who maade indian proud with their struggle and effort and became pride of nation .... and we people will nevr realise it . and in indian we civilise girls only for marriage and children and no one ever change it people here use girls only to get them married to a rich old guy and make their name proud .... a little angle also became victim of it and its a very bad mark on our culture and tradition...
