Hope for Vietnam's children of the dump

Twelve-year-old Dieu wears a bright-green top sprinkled with yellow flowers as she squats in a pile of garbage with her mother.
The two talk and laugh while their hands work quickly, sorting plastic from the discarded food and waste.
A full bag will bring their family just pennies. But this is their life’s work. They live on a dump in Rach Gia, Vietnam, part of the Mekong Delta.
Dieu’s little sister, one of nine siblings, watches from the family’s two-room shack. One of her brothers sits on a nearby tombstone with his dog. The dump lies on an abandoned cemetery, and the above-ground tombs are the only places to sit that aren’t covered by trash.
Some 200 families live on this and one other dump in Rach Gia. They are three generations of Cambodians who fled the brutal Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. It’s the only home they have ever known.
What they eat and what they wear is often from what they find in the trash. For the longest time, the children didn't even know flip-flops were supposed to match.
But there is a danger here far worse than filth or poverty.
Human traffickers prey on these poor people’s desperation. Children are bought and sold here, some for as little as $100. The parents sell because they are tricked into believing that the buyer has good intentions, that their children will have a promising job and a promising future. They so badly want to help their sons and daughters escape poverty.
Oftentimes, however, the children end up as sex slaves.
“The trafficker looks like your mom, (the trafficker) doesn't look like a bad guy," said Caroline Nguyen Ticarro-Parker, who founded the Catalyst Foundation to help Dieu and other children in Vietnam's poorest communities.
The kids are sometimes stolen, too, when they make their long walk into town to sell lottery tickets.
“When we started, we knew of a house that was at the entrance of the dump, and we know girls were being taken in there by traffickers and being raped,” Ticarro-Parker said. "If they screamed, then they were let go. If they didn't scream, then they were taken. And the girls were as young as 4."
Lessons for survival
After leaving Dieu’s dump, I arrive at another one just as a sanitation truck leaves behind a fresh pile.
People scurry with picks and bags and start sorting. They work day and night alongside their children. At 1 a.m., when the last truck of the day arrives, they all don headlamps to work in the dark.
I follow a mother who carries her baby to the family’s shack. One could barely call it that; it is nothing more than tarps strung together for shelter. Bowls of discarded food are covered in flies. Clothes dry on barbed wire.
The mother lays her baby in a net strung up as a hammock. After rocking the baby to sleep, she heads back out to work in the dump.
Another parent offers me his baby when I arrive. He is cradling a little boy, months old, wearing a colorful striped hat. The father swats flies away from the child’s face. He mistakenly thinks I am here to buy his baby.
Ticarro-Parker’s family fled Vietnam when she was a child. She returned as an adult to give back to her homeland, bringing clothes to the poor. But when she stumbled onto the families of the Rach Gia dumps, she knew much more had to be done.
She went back home to Minnesota, started raising money and eventually opened a school for the children of the dump.
Lesson one: Arm the children with cell phones so they can call for help.
“It sounds weird, but we gave the prettiest girls the cell phones first,” Ticarro-Parker said. “They’re most at risk.”
Lesson two: Teach the children to read so that if they are taken, they can read city signs and call the school to let them know where they are.
That happened in 2008. Four girls were taken, but the traffickers were caught because the girls had a cell phone and knew how to read a road sign to give their location.
Lesson three: Teach the children to run if strangers approach.
That’s exactly what 13-year-old Hanh did when men, presumably traffickers, chased her and her brother as they walked home on the last day of school in 2010. She did what she was taught and ran. But while getting away, Hanh fell into a canal and drowned.
Ticarro-Parker fights back tears recalling the tragedy: “She died doing what we asked.”
Before she died, Hanh was interviewed for the school’s first brochure. Next to her picture is a quote of what hope meant to her: “Hope is my school.”
School is the only hope for these children, Ticarro-Parker says. It strengthens the entire community.
"When we started it was 99% illiteracy,” she said. “None of the parents (at the dumps) knew how to read and write, the children had never been to school.”
They are now down to 40% illiteracy.
“The children are understanding that they could be the generation that doesn't work in the dump,” Ticarro-Parker said.
The school also teaches parents the cold hard truth: what will really happen to their children if they sell them.
In 2006, before the school opened, more than 37 girls from the dumps were sold to traffickers by their parents, Ticarro-Parker said. In 2011, only four were sold.
'A catalyst for change'
Inside one of the school’s two classrooms, a boy writes in his notebook. He clutches a blue pen with fingers covered in dirt, black under all his fingernails. The children are dirty, but their maroon-and-white school uniforms are crisp. Across their backs reads, “be a catalyst for change.” And they all wear shoes that match.
Outside is the sound of a power saw. Volunteers are here to build a playground for the school, which was built on a rice paddy on the edge of the town.
It will be the first real playground these children have seen.
One Vietnamese woman helps the volunteers with sanding and toting wood. She is working to pay off a debt to the school. She sold her teenage daughter to traffickers – twice - and the school helped get her back both times. Now the woman works to pay off her debt.
When the playground opens, the children are waiting. They swarm. Up the climbing wall, down the slide, over the monkey bars, onto the swings. They have to be taught how to pump their legs and pull the ropes to make the swings move. They don’t have any idea how it works. They learn quickly, however, and are soon flying high.
Dieu, on the seesaw, screams with joy as a row of girls fall like dominoes onto the sand in hysterical laughter. Seeing their smiles and hearing their joy, it is hard to believe these children live on a garbage dump.
"Over the last year and a half, the boys and girls have been happy,” Ticarro-Parker said. “They want to be singers and teachers and doctors and architects. Suddenly they have a career in mind. …
“We're not going to eliminate trafficking. We are not going to change this whole culture of girls feeling unworthy of themselves. But we're going to change this group of girls. We're going to change 200 girls. It's going to happen, one girl at a time."
i know vietnam a little and hardly care this kind of news ,but when i read the report i don't know how to express my idea.

I really do feel for these young girls. But a part of me agrees with Valentino...a small part and for very different reasons. I feel that we should help our own first, We have the poor, the uneducated, and the ill here on our very streets. Lets take care of this problem before we go out to help others. I have inlaws in Vietnam. All of this mentioned is true. Seen it with my own eyes. Some family members subsidized their living this way until our vist in 1994. We have since helped (4) families with semi-annual funds to assist their living, the children getting better educations rather than peddling on the street resulting in better jobs and living. We in the US don't know what true poverty is. You haven't seen the look on their faces when you hand out the equivalent of one dollar of their currency to them. It means a better meal for several days. Vietnam economy is getting better, however these conditions still persists in some locations, with extreme manual labor the norm in the countryside.
Russell, thanks for being someone who saw a problem and acted on it!! Too many Americans really have no idea what people in some countries endure. If we each took it upon ourselves to help one or two people in need, the world would be a much better place! We can't expect only the super rich or governments to solve these problems. We all have to be actively involved in solving these problems. It's frustrating when people say "but what can I do?". "A heck of a lot" is the answer!
This is also common in the Philippines, Brazil, some areas of India... It's horrific that people live this way.
It's so sad beyond words can express to see young children living this way. I have a 3 yr old son and reading this article made me cry imagining if my little prince would have to live this way. We should care, they are people too, just because it is from a different country doesn't mean they are not worthy of dignity and the very basic needs to survive. Good for the works she's done.... Our time's worst's human tragic scenes or cases are making all mankind or world innocents not be able to repress their astonishment. Because they have the slightest conscience as a human being even though their world or global community had been being weighed down with a lot of the vandalism of man and the wreck of time are committed everyday for a variety of reasons. This unworthly and mere low-educated world innocent urges all citizens of the world not to lose its primary meaning of the innate value of a human being, and also, not to be forfeited repsect due to owns inhumane acts/deeds. Unfortunately, those same crimes against humanity are being rampant through the whole countries, particularly, the worst's communist states or the puppet military regimes, whose their whole life intend to perpetrate crimes against humanity and an outrage against mankind. Y'know, Valentino, I used to live in Viet Nam. Two of my three children were born in Sai Gon. Yes, the economy in Viet Nam is booming, but there is still a lot of poverty there, and they have very high inflation. You can get at least 15% interest on a CD denominated in VND. No kidding.
I'll tell you straight up that compared to places with *real* poverty, there is no such thing as a poor American. Even our poor typically have running water, gas, electricity, and a TV. Most of them even have cars.

The Buddhist and Communist faiths of that region has encouraged child exploitation. It is great to see that Caroline, after being saved by Jesus and being inducted into Lutheran Evangelicals, is now saving the children in Vietnam and Cambodia so that their souls can be harvested for Jesus and their bodies can be adopted by Loving Christian Parents of US. The love that a Christian Father of the Blessed Nation of US can give a child from untrue faiths is equal to the Love of Heavenly Father to the True Christians who have saved their Souls from Eternal damnation that faces all others in afterlife, and garbage dump in this life.

I just read this article which was disturbing, but necessary for me to read. Thankyou for posting something about the solutions that are being done to rescue the children physically and spiritually. I am a follower of Jesus Christ am watching carefully for ways to reach out to children and their mothers, to bring real transformation to them. I am very encouraged by your post.
The only thing smart about this post is your name... everything else is dumber than a door knob. How does religion become a part of this story? And if Christianity is so moral, how about the priests exploiting young children? Or the good christians from the west travelling from Thailand to Cambodia to engage in underage exploitation. You're right, not all people who claims to be a Christian will follow the Living Words of God. I do understand history shows the ugliness of some so-called Christians. But I assure you there are many who exemplify the Word of God, and live by them. How many more atheist who killed in the name of mankind? When man takes matters into his own hand, and redefine morality, there will be problems. Only by the living Word, and a true relationship with our Loving God, can we live life by serving others, not so we can feel good about ourselves, and not by our power, but by every strength God has given us.

Did you know that you are 100 times more likely to run into a child molestor in the teaching community that you are in the clergy? Yet, because it involved religion, the church scandal took a center stage unlike any other child molestation scandal. The scandal does, however, remind us how we need to remain vigilant against child predators ANYWHERE, and to not be tolerant of them for one second. Having said that, the reality is that religion, by and large, is an overwhelmingly positive catalyst for change and hope across this world. If you have a problem with that positive change, I can see how you have a problem with religion. Otherwise, independent of what your beliefs may be, you should be happy that so many people are inspired to help their fellow man through the strength of their faith.
Please don't berate another's religion because you've been brainwashed into thinking your beliefs are somehow superior. So if the child refuses to accept "your" god, will you continue to help? Seems like there is good intention behind your words, but the vehicle in which you deliver your message is missing at least two wheels. Let's all just agree that the children of the world deserve better than what many of them have to deal with daily.

Catholic is not a primary religion in Vietnam. It only occupies around 8%. The majority is "ancestors worship" which is very closed to Buddhism.

First of all, Communism is not a religion, it is a political view -therefore not a "faith." Secondly, Buddhism is a peaceful religion. I'm pretty sure that Buddhism does not encourage a person to be impoverished. Your claim is ignorant. Christianity happens to be the main religion in Uganda and yet they are one of the poorest nations in the world. So do some more research before you make a claim.

Usually the poorest are the ones with the most children because they don't know any better. They have no education and making love is probably their only means of entertainment. I believe educating the parents should also be part of the system in saving these families.
U may think that they're uneducated about having babies but how about they have no means of buying or paying for birth control pills & the likes? i am vietnames but i did not know about this.I think it is true but not 100% .In my opinion, this story told about vietnam of very long time ago.thesedays vietnam is getting better.almost vietnames can read and they just have two baby, because they are teached that having alot of children make their life become more difficult, and even they are so poor i am sure that nobody wants to sell their children. Thank-you for the article. This issue needs constant and enthusiastic coverage. I taught in Vietnam for many years (albeit in Hanoi) and while I agree with Hannn in that Vietnam has come a long way, it would be naive to think the issue is not still a massive consideration and a terrifying reality for children and families. It also scares me to read and hear that it seems so prevalent in the United States as well. I dare say that part of raising awareness is understanding that nowhere in the world is completely free from trafficking.
Without trying start any kind of religious debate, I sincerely wish that we could all recognise that religion is quite irrelevant here- the fact is, children are being subjected to the kind of treatment that none of us would ever, ever wish on our own kind, as and regardless of our faith, we all as human beings need to rise to that emergency and without any thought but to bring them to safety.
Once again wonderful article, I will share as often as I can and hope to be able to visit, donate and perhaps contribute in the near future.

You're too young and uninformed to know what happened and you sound as if you're one of those who, apparently, thinks the US is always in the wrong. The people the American troops were fighting in South Vietnam were an invading force. The South Vietnamese people did not want to be communists and before we were in the country were fighting the invading North Vietnamese military which sprung from a totalitarian society that could order its citizens to do what their leaders wanted which was conquer South Vietnam. North Vietnam could have lived peacefully, but instead it chose war against a neighbor that simply wanted to be left alone. We didn't invade North Vietnam, which would have ended the war, because we didn't want to spread the war even further by involving China, as had happened when North Korea, another war-loving totalitarian society, invaded South Korea and we kicked their ass back to the Chinese border and had 2 million Chinese soldiers cross into North Korea. Vietnam simply wasn't worth another mess like that – and the South Vietnamese, a relatively free people, proved not motivated enough to oppose the totalitarian North that later proved its military nature by invading Cambodia to end the reign of the crazy Pol Pot. The US policy behind the war was containment of communism. It was such a ridiculous system that didn't accord with human nature (asking motivated people to work hard and give the product of their labor to people who didn't work hard – from each according to his ability, to each according to his need) that it was destined to self-destruct sooner or later (and, having lasted something less than 100 years, turned out to be sooner in the grand scheme of things). So wherever it attempted to expand, we opposed it which gave us quite a number of small conflicts without the need for an all out war against communism which would have been the disaster of nuclear war. We won – everywhere.

Ho Chi Minh was America's allied during WWII. He appealed to the TRUMAN to recognize VN as a sovereign nation and to NOT AID THE FRENCH to come back and re-installed colonial slavery.
Truman rejected Ho's plea and foot 100 percent French war expenses to occupy Vietnam under the excuse/allegation that Ho was a communist agent working for China and Soviet Union. The true reason was simply because Washington preferred another European power to be dominant in the region to secure America's military foot print.
The South Vietnamese govt, headed by Ngo Dinh Diem, was a puppet govt. Diem was in a monastery in New Jersey when Senator Mike Mansfield found him and chose him to head the Saigon puppet govt.
Unfortunately, once in power, Diem started talking back at Washington instead of being an obedient puppet. Kennedy therefore gave the CIA the nod to take him down. Diem and his brother Nhu were overthrown by ARVN generals and were murdered by garroting inside an armored personnel carrier in Cho Lon.
We went there, not because of freedom or liberty. We went there simply because we were ignorant of the country, its culture and the politics. We went there because we were trying to exercise the "containment policy". The South Vietnamese people were merely pawns.
South Vietnam fell in April 1975. In 1979 Vietnam engaged a border war against China. It spoke loudly Vietnam desired to be an independent nation, not a slave of France, United States or China.
Immediately after the war ended in 1975, Vietnam tried to normalize diplomatic relations with the west, that included the USA. However, we still sore over the bloody nose and did not let bygone be bygone until Clinton came to the White House.
I am a Viet vet and had visited Vietnam twice after the war. I met and had cordial talks with former NVA vets. I did not encounter the kind of hatred I see in many of my fellow Americans such as Sandy. I asked one NVA vet how he felt toward me, an American vet. His response was " you did your job, fighting for your country. I did my job, fighting against you for the sake of my homeland. I lost my two sons in combat fighting against you. However, war is over, it is the past, you are always welcomed here as a friend/visitor but we are always ready to fight you again if you come as an occupier." We drank good beers and had good conversations.

These are ethic Cambodians living in Vietnam. It is unlikely for the government of Vietnam or Cambodia to take any notice. It is sad that these people were able to escape death by the Khmer Rouge but suffer a fate that is no better, again due to humanity's neglect.

As stated in this Article, these children are ethic Cambodian groups whose grandparents/parents fled from the Brutal Khmer Rogue regime in 1970s. I wonder about the nationality and citizenship of these children. As I can see in the articles, the children may not have a permanent Vietnamese citizen registry in Vietnam. If possible, the Catalyst for Change should contact with Vietnamese local government in order to ask for Vietnamese citizen registry for these children and their parents. With Vietnamese citizenship registration, these children and their parents may enjoy some much more favorable conditions for education, basic medical supply and other benefits from policies of eradicating hunger and reducing poverty launched Vietnamese government.

My simple advice for you two is to either tour Vietnam or do more research to get to know your country.
They are ethnic Khmer living in Vietnam. So they are Vietnamese not Cambodian because they were born in Vietnam. Throughout the region (Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Kampuchea, and Vietnam) there are different ethnic groups living on the borders that are denied citizenship because of their ethnicity. Monarchies, Capitalist and Communist governments (with USA backing) all equally discriminate against these people. Until they have a permanent home with an address, they cannot apply for citizenship.
If you really dig a little into that history – the USA backed the Khmer Rouge (KR) and their genocide because the KR were at war with Communist Vietnamese.
*Don’t presume to make judgments about another person and their struggles until you have indeed been there and done that.

I admire the heart and intentions of the education factor to fight back. I would take that whole concept of thier survival to a immediate health issue. I don´t know exactly how it is in the states because i´m from Germany but most vietnamese ppl here are educated! If you do some research u´ll know that from all the immigrants in germany, vn´s kids have the highest rate of final certificate from educational establishment. They work very hard to send money back home! I am one of the lucky one who has the opportunity to go to school and visit the universty.. even though I grow up in Germany, I never forget my roots and it makes me angry when i read stuff like u wrote.
God forgive me for whining that I don't have any money to go shopping with today!!! It is so convenient to turn a blind eye to horrors such as this, but hurts my heart to open my eyes and see that this type of thing really goes on in our world. "Bless the beasts and the children. I have seen this first hand during my short time in Vietnam in the mid 60's. It was then and is now a part of everyday life for these kids. Sad but true and it has nothing to do with religion. I was recently in Rach Gia for nearly a week and found a private motor bike owner to rent so that I could look around the city. Not that many Canadian's spend much time there but a few tourist go through when returning or going to the more resort island of Dau Phu Quoc. What is most frustrating about many of these countries is that even when bringing in donated charitable goods, there is often complications created where bribes are expected. I know a man, he was 28 years old, who went to Vietnam to meet a girl he had never met, seen or spoken to but he knew about her from her sister who worked where he worked. He went over to meet his bride, the sister said that she wanted to come to America and he wanted a wife so he flew to Vietnam to meet her. She had just turned 19 years old. They have been married for about 3 years now and live in Nebraska. I understand that she wanted to come to America and he wanted a wife, but to me I value that marriage is based on love and to me you should love a person before you marry.

One of the truly sad portions of this story is the unwarranted bias; as if most, and maybe all of these parents sell their children to "give them a better life." It's a fallacy, and a bad attempt at a "feel good after we make you feel bad" news story. For the 99% of the individuals that comment on stories like this, who haven't ever been exposed to extreme poverty or even been to another country, you likely don't, won't or can't comprehend that humans are inherently evil. It's much easier to be selfish, angry, and nefarious then it is good and caring. Most of these parents sell their kids to lessen their personal burden, while hoping against hope that they'll make enough money off of them to buy themselves food for the next week. This may be unwanted commentary, but it's a fact, and one I see often in my work. The parents are the roots of this issue.

This breaks my heart. My wife and I have traveled quite a bit, in Asia and other places, and have seen some of the poor first-hand, it can be worse than you could ever imagine, believe me. I feel so bad for those people, not only for the children, but for the parentsm how they must feel to have a tarp for a house and trash for food and clothing, I can't begin to imagine. Be thankful for what you have and always try to help those with less.

The tragedy of poverty in Vietnam lingers on. To this day, I recall the plight and visual images of orphaned children (many of them Amerasian) struggling to get by with even the most basic of necessities (shelter, food and clothing), let alone much needed medical care. That was during the war and this article serves only to inform that for many (especially innocent children), life in Southeast Asia is not much (if any) better now than it was when I witnessed it first hand some forty plus years ago. My heart breaks for these people and the generations of family members preceding them.

I have been living in Vietnam for 22 years, I have my own company and employ around 50 Vietnamese. In addition, my wife is Vietnamese and we have a few children.
During the past 22 years, I have seen a society develop from a respectful, hard working and honest culture to a society that is based on greed, dishonesty and focussing on me, myself and I. It has been sad to watch the norms and values of a great country and people to be destroyed so quickly.
The new Vietnam shows up in many different ways regarding daily life and doing business in Vietnam.
Regarding doing business, the long-term business relationships are generally based on corruption. As long as you are paying money under the table to get the contracts one has a relationship. Unfortunately, when the Vietnamese can find another company in Vietnam to pay more money under the table, the relationship is finished. In addition, corruption has been increasing during the past 22 years and escalating during the past 5 years. This is my experience and this is a topic that is discussed in the Vietnamese press and English language newspapers etc etc in Vietnam on a daily basis. This has put a bad taste in the mouths of the Vietnamese who see other Vietnamese driving around in fancy cars, buying houses and villas etc etc. They want it too and they want it now not tomorrow. And they don't want to work for it.
This corruption, dishonesty etc also affects how the Vietnamese see each other. The Vietnamese do not trust other Vietnamese. The only people they trust are family members. The Vietnamese are also not interested in developing long-term relationships unless they are benefitting from it personally. In addition, most Vietnamese friendships are very superficial compared to the relationships in the west. The Vietnamese are generally incapable of seeing a customer beyond today. What can I get from that business reaction now, little or no thinking about tomorrow. Therefore, the Vietnamese will cheat, if they can, another person. Most of it is Vietnamese with other Vietnamese. For example, when a person from Saigon travels to Hanoi, they are being ripped off from the minute they land in the capital. Ask the Vietnamese.
If the Vietnamese are going to steal and cheat each other, how do you think they will treat a tourist?
Probably worse because they know that this person will not be returning and they don't care. They want everything today. I have some sympathy concerning this ideology of the Vietnamese because it was probably derived from war time when they had to find food to feed their children today and not really knowing the future.
Regarding misunderstanding the Vietnamese due to a language issue, possibly but probably not. I speak more Vietnamese on a daily basis than English. In addition, if one understands the Vietnamese communication system, one will find that the Viets are indirect communicators. Therefore, even if they know that you understand their Vietnamese, they will still say disrespectful things directly to you using indirect language and they also use body language to disrespect people.
The Vietnamese culture is complex but if you take the time to study and evaluate it, in particular, the new norms and values of the society, it will be highly disturbing.

First, the US supported Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge by supporting them in the United Nations as the legitimate govt of Cambodia, in addition, by sending weapons and food through Thailand to support them in the war against the Cambodian govt that was supported by Vietnam.. Good job to Natalie Allen for this awakening coverage....great effort by the Catalyst Organization....one suggestion...what we are dealing here is more than the need for education, instead, we need to instill awareness and give these kids the audacity to hope for more in life......therefore, i suggest to help these kids to get accustomed to the idea of an internet. Providing an access to internet is gonna help them have a vision beyond what they see currently! This method of outreach was tried out in some rural parts of India by National Geography with amazing results. Just a thought!

Thousands of Vietnamese soldiers lost their lives fighting in Cambodia so the Cambodian people would no longer suffer under the Pol Pot regime.
Also "Phuc" is not pronounced the same way as the English "F" word so if people actually pronounced it correctly there'd be no problem.
WAKE UP David! These people have been living in Vietnam for decades and are Vietnamese in reality. They speak Vietnamese, their names are Vietnamese and they know nothing about Cambodia. Also what are they going to do in Cambodia? They have no skills or education, dont speak the language etc. I guess you would prefer that they live in a garbage dump in Cambodia. Go read a book!

To those of you who are asking why is this mother having 9 children and in poverty, would you please think before you speak? First of all, the mothers have never had education, they don't know how to read, they don't know how to write, they don't know what birth control is. And you know why they have 9 children? did you read how they earn their money? Yeah, by sorting recyclable items, that means they think they the more children they have, the better their work efficiency will be when their children are grown up, and they will have something to fall back on when they're old. There is no such thing as a "social security", or "welfare" or anything like that in Vietnam, put yourself in their shoes, can't read, can't write and see if you would do anything differently. Everyone only can live once in this world but maybe it will take hundreds years or thousands years is Vietnammese can live really like a humman. Look, even a student graduated or staff who worked for a long time, all they also cant live good. There are very many people have to live in a room with 3 m2, there are only a few of them can live comfortable. But almost all people here is workers and u also know how they live worse

Sometimes I think maybe Uncle Ho Chi Minh who fighted for freedom of Viet Nam will be very sad and disappointed now because his civilians have to live a life which is very difficult and poor. I hope there will are the second Ho Chi Minh appear to change or support all bad systems of Viet Nam. I dont care who he/she is or where come from or which country, I just care they can help civilians , it's not ways like government do.
