Argentina bans classified ads offering sex
BUENOS AIRES – Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner signed a presidential decree Tuesday that bans classified ads that offer sexual services in Argentine newspapers. The decree, number 936, entered the Argentine Official Bulletin and became law on Wednesday.
Like newspapers around the world, many Argentina papers are filled with sex-related advertisements. Kirchner said many of the women featured in these ads are victims of human trafficking and forced into prostitution. She said the move, though, was not an attempt to isolate or embarrass them.
"We will never condemn any woman. In most cases, no one has the chance to choose the life that they live," Kirchner said.
In her announcement at the Casa Rosada in Buenos Aires, Kirchner was critical of media outlets that garner major revenue from sex ads, accusing them of "double morals and hypocrisy."
"Newspapers can't print headlines demanding that we fight human trafficking, while their back pages present ads that humiliate women," said Kirchner.
A new government agency will be created to monitor classified ads, but it is not clear yet what consequences, if any, newspapers will face if they violate the new law.

Maybe in your country things are like you say, but in latin america it's not. I go (and will continue going even if it's banned here) to brothels every weekend. During 15 years I go every weekend on brothels, I become friend of girls, owners, others customers etc... I live in neighboring Brazil and that's pretty much how the powers that be like to do things down here. Criminalize the behavior, but never address the underlying causes of such behavior. I live in Brazil too and I know dozen of women who do it because they want to do and not because someone forced them to do. Bans anything will never work mainly in Latin America, you know how things works here. The main difference between these jobs and prostitution is the whole deal of having to share their most intimate physical relation with people who usually dont care about them and use them, they see these women (and men) as a simple means to their own personal satisfaction.

The problem is that you can differentiate between the women who by themselves offer their “services” from the pimps who exploit them or even the places where they are retained against their will, doped up without ever seeing the sunlight until they finally get rid of them, that is, kill them. If you want to protect these women then legalize, regulate and limit to 10 to 12 percent the amount the pimps of working girls agent can take. By treating these girls as members of society and limiting the amount pimps can take you will empower the workers, while reduce the lowlifes that prey on them.
