A coin for your thoughts

Seven years ago on the shores of Morecambe Bay in England, 23 Chinese workers harvesting cockles drowned against a rising tide. Their fate was sealed, but thanks to an artist named Ann Carrington, their deaths certainly are being remembered.

She has created a coin in their honor, marking their deaths and debts, sums that gang masters still seek to collect.

So sad.Gang masters need to find another line of work.Boycot gangs and their "products". They are in business only because they have customers. When my children were growing up, we used to clam dig for recreation. It was hard work for the adults, fun for the children. We were all savy with the tides. We only dug for a short time during the lowest tides of the month. I never heard of a clam digger losing their life in our area. I wonder if the chinese were dropped off at a sand bar from a boat and not picked in time. There are many people drivivg trucks that are slaves. After graduating at the top of his class he was hired at 14 cents a mile for team driving three years ago. So if he and his partner drove for a total of 11 hours each at at 50 miles, that would be $7.70 an hr. while driving. They are not paid for any other work they did such as fueling their truck ect. The company habitually kept their new drivers on student pay for many extra weeks because of federal contributions. The trainer kept them longer so he wouldn't have to work. The trainer got extra pay. A warehouse worker guided them back into a ditch, which bent a tire rim. The company deducted $500. from his check because they are "self-insured", even though the damage was only $140. His pay for that pay -period was $.83! They were hauling mostly hazardous materials. Once while hauling explosives, their cab was struck by lightning. A few feet back and all that would have been left would have been a crater in the road. He finally was able to find an honest company. He was lied to by his school, his recruiters, dispatch, and his company..There are hundreds with similar stories. One of his fellow students commited suicide, two were injured permanently, one had too many tickets, and the others couldn't take the job any more.Drive safely, folks. A big rig signals left to avoid hitting people. It's a $1,500 ticket to get caught in the middle lane-he only goes there if it's an emergency! If a driver signals left, please flash your headlights as you back down your speed and let him over quickly. DO NOT speed up to try to get ahead-you could get DEAD. Thank you.

This is about a different type of human traffic.I'm leaving in a big rig with my husband in a few days.We have a five year plan: we're going to deliver. You can help.Drive safely. Think about what happens when a car and a truck crashes.Lives are lost and people get hurt.$$$ are lost. People who are waiting on the load lose sales. Work crews get sent home.Projects are delayed.Even loads that are delayed by problems in manufacturing, warehouses, natural disasters so on cost the consumer more money. I witnessed a five vehicle accident. One car didn't signal and cut across the front of a big rig.The weight of the load made impossible for the truck driver to avoid hitting the car. This wreck was spectacular. Two cars flipped into the air like they were toys. They both landed upside down. The truck had a damaged fender. A min-van had a shredded tire. A contractor had damage to his truck and was two hours late to his job.A Doctor and I were the first to help the two car drivers. They all had been wearing their seat belts. The driver of the upside-down quality car was much better than the other. Traffic was backed up for two hours. I believe that most accidents are preventable. Some people don't understand that trucks need more time and room to drive. They also don't understand that a little tap from a truck could send their car catapulting across the road. So I am hoping to change the world in my own small way. I want to challenge drivers to cure themselves of their bad driving habits. What if we all drove like a professional? When put into practice, this idea could help turn around our nation's economy.Don't laugh, I'm serious about this.I want to hear about what you are going to do to improve the way you drive your vehicle. Love to you all. Sissy

I was curious if you ever considered changing the page layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
