Seven years ago on the shores of Morecambe Bay in England, 23 Chinese workers harvesting cockles drowned against a rising tide. Their fate was sealed, but thanks to an artist named Ann Carrington, their deaths certainly are being remembered.

She has created a coin in their honor, marking their deaths and debts, sums that gang masters still seek to collect.
