Moore, Kutcher: Join our crusade to end child sex trafficking
"There's between 100,000 and 300,000 child sex slaves in the United States today," Ashton Kutcher tells CNN's Piers Morgan. "If you don't do something to stop that - that's when there's something wrong with you."
In their first-ever joint prime time interview, actress Demi Moore and actor Ashton Kutcher joined Thursday's "Piers Morgan Tonight."
The husband-and-wife team launched The Demi & Ashton Foundation (DNA) after a visit to the U.S.-Mexico border in January. They met a girl who had been trafficked into the United States by her pimp, who brought her into a field where she was repeatedly raped on a trash bag by 30 men. The DNA Foundation stands for the fundamental right to freedom for every person - because it's within our DNA.
"It just seemed impossible to live in a world where that was going on and not do something about it," said Moore.

According to Kutcher, the average age of entry into the sex trade is 13.
"And that's globally, by the way," added the actor, who also pointed out that many Americans view child sex slavery as a problem in places that they have no control over, such as Cambodia, India or Nepal.
Kutcher wants to people to realize trafficking is prevalent in the U.S., too. Traffickers are often "Average Joes," usually in their early 30s.
"And what they're really doing," said Kutcher, "is profiting off the sale of these women and girls."
These men seem like perfect guys to vulnerable girls from broken homes. Pimps start off nice and generous in a ritual that Moore likens to "courting." Sometimes they meet the girls online, establish relationships with them, take them shopping, make them comfortable and gain their trust.
One of the so-called faces of human trafficking joined "Piers Morgan Tonight" under concealed identity from an undisclosed location to provide a first-hand account of what Morgan called "the horrors of sex trafficking." The 17-year-old girl went by the name "Nicole" for the purposes of the interview.
When Nicole - who is an American citizen - was 13, her father went to jail while her mother battled drug addiction. Nicole began establishing relationships with men online, leading to a cycle of pimps, drug problems and even jail.
Moore recalled the story of a girl who, now 18, was just 11 when she was taken in by a pimp. In a similar fashion, he took her to McDonald's, took her to the mall and made her feel safe. Pretty soon she was forced into child prostitution and given a $1,500-a-night quota. If she didn't meet her quota, she was beaten or forced to sit in a tub of ice.
Her pimp's nickname was "Daddy Day Care" because the girls he overpowered were extremely young. According to the girl, Moore said, the pimp would load the girls into an overcrowded car - so crowded that some rode in the trunk - drive to Las Vegas, place ads on Craigslist and have the girls prostituting almost immediately.
Siddharth Kara, author of "Sex Trafficking, Inside the Business of Modern Slavery" also joined the show. Kara said at a minimum, there are "1.5 million traffic sex slaves in the world today generating profits in 2010 that exceeded $39 billion." (Related: Attack the demand for child sex trafficking)
Moore reiterated that she and Kutcher initiated the campaign "to create awareness. You have to acknowledge a problem exists before you can actually go about finding a solution," she said. "And what we've found is that most people aren't even aware of what's going on."
Moore and Kutcher maintain that they will remain committed to the cause no matter how long it takes to eradicate child sex slavery.
Morgan asked the couple famously addicted to Twitter - Kutcher has 6.5 million followers, Moore has 3.5 million - if it is smart to use social media as a tool to spread the word about their campaign when social media often makes it easier for child sex traffickers to operate.
"For me," said Kutcher, "I think I looked at this platform and thought to myself, 'This could be the collective consciousness, right?' This platform, in and of itself, a little shout here, and a little shout there. But the key was being able to drive a link into deeper, richer content into a tweet, and then have that tweet be syndicated.
"I don't believe that there's a problem in the world that exists that the solutions didn't exist before the problem. So that's why we're using social media for this campaign," he said. "It's to actually go right into the heart of where it's taking place. Seventy-six percent of the transactions for child sex slavery is actually happening online. So if we can motivate people while they are online to do something about that, then we can make a dent."
Furthermore, Kutcher urged people to visit sites such as Craigslist and flag pages that appear to be about child trafficking.
"People can start to actually un-root this at its root," said Kutcher, who urged people to go to Facebook.com/TheDNAfoundation, put themselves in a video, share that video with friends and go to the action tab where the foundation outlines online initiatives.
"We want the social web to become the police for human trafficking online," Kutcher told Morgan.

I think it is strange to think of this problem as being almost exclusively perpetrated by men. So from the campaigns catch phrase – it almost sounds like it becomes OK for Men to buy boys or for that matter Women to buy girls/boys.
We are leaving some blaring loopholes in this campaign by focusing solely on men buying girls – criminals are very smart eventually men will learn OK – "let me just get a woman to buy me a girl – and i can pay her off" or it may start becoming OK for Women to do the p1mp1n6 – see the problem.

I have to agree with some on this blog...this is a serious issue, 11-14 year old girls are not mature enough to decide and that is the issue. Ashton was well into adulthood when he CHOSE to be with an older woman. That is not what is being disucussed here. But rather the slavery of kids. Good for them for using their names to bring attention to this as it is a serious issue.
Isn't the point of this story to show the "children" that are being exploited and the endless pain and suffering that this is creating? This all started just a year ago, with budget cuts. My school system eliminated recess, sports, and arts from the curriculum. My two boys are held captive in a feminized classroom filled with girl-centered books, girl-centered themes, and a girl-centered curriculum. All the boys are failing in this environment, and the school system has responded by pushing Ritalin and other drugs on the children. Heavy duty psychotropic drugs injected into a six year old cannot be the answer.

Boys and men don't want to buy hookers. Only a few male and female psychopaths would want to buy a hooker, let alone a little girl. A boy or a guy may want hire a hooker, of which there is nothing wrong. In fact, in quite a few countries and sections of the USA, it is completely legal to do so. As long as the prostitute in question, male or female, is of age and chose the profession of her own free will there is not a single damn thing wrong with it.
An underage, even pre-teen underage child forced into these practices, however, are not a 'hooker'. The fact that you and they are equating pedofilia and sex trafficking with prostitutes, is another show that this has nothing to do with protecting actual victims from actual criminals.
Stigmatizing and shaming men boys for liking sex is indeed the goal here. The campaign after all doesn't target the actual culprits, it names completely innocent hard working lower and middle class men, not the mainly women psychopathic actual criminals. And as always, it not only hurts men and boys, but it hurts women as well. It is taking away from women (as well as men) a perfectly viable method of acquiring income that harms no one. One thing that would help curb thisis to change the way pimps, prostitutes and johns are prosecuted. Prostitutes no matter who or how old should be free from prosecution entirely. They are largely exploited women, girls and boys who have enough going against them. Then prosecute the hell out of the pimps, 20 years in jail minimum and prosecute the hell out of the johns, 10 years minimum. This way the two parties that are motivating and propegating this trade are at the most risk, allowing abused women to turn in their pimps without legal risk. I would imagine that the police department would save quite a lot of money not arresting prostitutes and just going for the big fish.

I went to an AA meeting with my Dad at his Club house and he confronted me and said "you night have a problem Nancy" so he planted the seed in my head. So at 19 I went to AA, Rodeo Drive. I don't drink I just take Pills. Well take this Big Book home and come back if your drinking or go to NA.So I went to N.A. but I did not fit in. I had not used a needle and I did not have tattoo's and they did not have young peoples meetings back then, so marijuana and beer maintenance for me, I can do this alone I don't need AA I'm only 19 and I can be strong and control the partying. So I got a job doing wardrobe on a movie and I felt like a new person controlling the beer and weed, weekends only, once a month. No problem for me and slowly but surely more and more drinking. 21 years old, I can sit in a bar on Sunset and drink Martinis and so that was my thing, Vodka in the freezer, straight up on the rocks and then a little cocaine, my friends had pure rocks. So in the movie business it was everywhere I went, cocaine to work all day and night and it helped me break down a movie script, lines of cocaine in the morning. Lines of cocaine in the Morning and sometimes a beer in the day. I traveled the Country working on movies, drank with the crew and spent all my Money, right up my nose. So Vodka and Cocaine- hand in hand. 4 years of partying and Bam!I was through. I was sick of not remembering who I talked to the night before, I hated being hung over and I threw up every tine I drank. So I dug out my Big Book from Rodeo Drive, I stayed up drinking all night and I used it for a coaster. I read the stories in the back and said "An I an Alcoholic?" and I already knew the answer. So I surrendered and that night I knew I was through, I sleep like a baby. The next day I raised my hand at an AA meeting, Studio 12 in North Hollywood. I was done and then I had a miracle happen. I felt the obsession lifted from my body and God whisper to me " Don't worry Nancy, you have found Recovery" My Dad did it, so I knew I could too,he lead me to AA when I was 16 and he knew I would come back when I was ready, my Dad died when when I was 21 and he had 7 years Sober. I cried for a long time over my Dad when I was new, I had held the pain inside and masked it with drinking. So I knew he was there for me standing by God and they would not let me down if I carried on sober and followed the new spiritual life that God gave me. I made amends to my mother by changing my behavior. The sleepless nights she sat waiting in her chair until 6 AM, and picking me up in Hollywood everytime I crashed a car, the only time I prayed " Dear God, don't let me get a DUI" and " Dear God, Don't let me die" I believed in God at a young age of 3 Church of Chines Pre Scholl instilled God's way in me. That's partly what made the transition so easy. No Atheists Chapter for me. I always prayed when I was a child and that's what kept me half way together when I partied, also the guilt and shame of mother finding out what I was doing. Because my mother was into not sinning, she raised me with moral values. I kept it from her as much as I could, so she would not be hurt and upset. So at 25 years of age I was through. Thank you God I found AA. My Sponsor taught me to always check your motives Nancy! so I learned in early sobriety not to manipulate. I raised my children sober, I had my first daughter at 6 years sober and counted my blessing everyday. Present in the moment, remembering every second. Thank God I would say to myself everyday, thank God I found sobriety. I healed my own Childhood in 12 Step Recovery, ACA and Coda. Being a good mother- my top priority in life. I found Alanon at 7 years sober and it taught me to focus on my children and not my husbands drinking. My two daughters were raised in Ala Tot and Ala teen and mommy and me AA meetings. I raised then with self esteem focus and no shaming or blaming. They are a shining example of being raised in a 12 Step household. The seven deadly sins are in the Big Book, that is my bible. I read it every night when I was new, a solid foundation, working the steps, doing the footwork and turning it over, a sponsor to call and God's is there and will not let you fall. he works through people, places and things. So I always watch for miracles, like running into somebody and they say exactly what you need to hear, that is God interacting in your life to help make staying sober easy, if I feel angry I do an inventory quickly and writing is the best release for me. The only way out of the pain is through the pain I believe, that's what works for me, i also learned it's okay to cry. If you don't do anything that would make you feel guilty then you have no reason to drink. My Alanon sponsor taught me to " Zip my lip's" and "mind my own business" " look in the mirror" she would say. So I learned detaching with love and not hostility. Be angry at the disease of Alcoholism and the alcoholic. So my AA, ACA, Coda, and Alanon Sponsor for 16 years taught me not to have sex with a man unless your in love and we healed our childhoods together. When my husband was abusive she would not sponsor me and that was her boundary. Another thing I have learned in 12 Step Step Recovery, Setting Boundaries and meaning what you say. So everyone said " go to Alanon" and I left my husband shortly afterwards with that support. Single Mom seven years, all my focus on my children and I called my old sponsor and said I have been sexually abstinent for nearly a decade and she said" you might as well wait for a man you love" and I called my other sponsor and she said " Get on you knees's and pray for an answer" and there he was. A man I fell in love with when I was 29 and he played in a band at my 4 year AA party. So off to London I went and celebrated my 21 Year AA birthday, Valentines Day in Paris, and a castle in Ireland. A miracle, two weeks of bliss with the love of life and then for two years my boyfriend, I cherished each moment while I was in it. Thank you God for answering my prayers. Another thing I have learned in AA. So 12 stepping family and friends and carrying the message along the way by being an example,and every so often someone call and say " Guess what Nancy? I'm in AA" and I feel good I helped show then the way.So every night I think to myself before I go to sleep Thank you God for my sobriety and thank you for all my 12 step recovery.

I, Nancy G. Fox, Westlake Village, CA:
1. I am the mother of two children: Jessica D. Taylor and Hannah G. Taylor
2. This declaration is being written in support of a motion” to cancel protective custody and cancel monitored visitation and to return Jessica D. Taylor to her mother and to return Hannah G. Taylor to her mother at end of her scheduled summer visitation and drop the case” as it is based on false information and "to let the public know about the injustice done to me by individuals that reported false information about me to Child Protective Services".
3. This is in reference to: CK78460
Jessica D. Taylor and Hannah G. Taylor
4. I do not have a copy of the court report that was filed; I called the court today and got the case number. I read the report my attorney showed me in court and addressed the false information and marked the changes that were false statements.
5. False reports were made about me to DCFS:
That my toilets do not flush, all my sinks are clogged and cat feces are all over the house, Darren Taylor told me he made this false report in a phone conversation. The court report said I am not taking my Pysch Medication. I do not take Pysch Medication and I have never been to a Psychiatrist. It also stated that my home was dangerous because of Alcohol and cocaine and I have been a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous for Twenty-Four years since Feb. 9th, 1985. My home is alcohol and drug free. I made notes on the court document stating the information as false and Jessica D. Taylor told me she informed her lawyer the report was wrong and she told me she said “my mom has been sober twenty four years and this report is wrong.”
5. I do not now know what other reports were made to DCFS or who is making them. I have provided six character reference letters to my attorney Allen K. Korenstein.
6. I did a voluntary Up Front Assessment at the request of DCFS and I have requested a copy from DCFS and from my attorney. I also provided the names and phone numbers of my past Therapists that I have been to for individual and family counseling over the years and I am willing to sign a release form for them.
7. I am a kind loving mother and I have dedicated my life to raising my children, I have had full custody of my children for approximately ten years and been the primary care giver and provider. I have documented that information as well.
8. I had a meeting with DCFS on July 16th, 2009, we discussed going to my own Therapist for counseling and to verify it for them. I have provided the character letter from my Boss which verifies the long hours I was working Costuming on a Feature Film. I am also under extreme financial hardship and I do not have a car or extra money. I would like to go to family counseling with my children and it is covered under their Health Insurance. I received a call from the social worker that my children were being taken into protective custody because she was concerned about my mental health and she was concerned I had not been to Therapy yet. I did not understand Therapy to be an urgent matter. This was on August 10th, 2009.
9. I am requesting that this case is dropped and the protective custody and monitored/public visits are canceled due to the false information that has been reported by individuals.

Recently I was caught in a wide net by DCFS and charged with "Failure To Protect" my 2 children. It doesn't matter that it was my ex-husband who lost his temper and hit my eldest daughter while in his custody. We share 50%. I thought I dealt with the situation correctly by taking my daughters to their family therapist (who called it in). The Russian DCFS worker and his Chinese supervisor (both recent immigrants and I suspect hired for this purpose) decided we were candidates for Childrens Court. Next thing I know, DCFS are attempting to Foster out my kids! Understandably freaked out, I do a little online investigating and find that DCFS have huge financial incentive to not only Foster children away from their families but to ADOPT them out of the system. We are talking millions of dollars. CA has the highest rate of Fostered and Adopted children in the Nation. It seems to me, from what I have learned and witnessed, the poorest families are targeted the most. I talked to women at Edleman's Court who have been fighting DCFS for years to get their kids back, most young children are adopted and the mothers lose their babies FOREVER! I am shocked that this is America. I still have my kids, I hired a lawyer – I am fortunate to be able to,however, most caught in this net can not.
Ex Senator Nancy Schaefer was about to testify and name names about the abuse and corruption in CPS, which involves human trafficking, sex slaves and politicians (oh my!) when she was a victim of murder/suicide last month.

Any Investigative Journalists 'out there' willing to take on Children and Family Services or Childrens Protection Services???? They are severely abusing The Severe Child Abuse Act 1974 to get Federal dollars (minimum$12,000 per kid and up) to und their agency. They are bringing in foreign interrogators from Russia and China to flush out susceptible families for their agenda. I am not a jounalist, but I am horrified by the violation of human rights in our own Country.

Hello, I am one of the mothers you have wrote about. And my sons were most definately the sufferers at the hand of their own father. Oh and cps...what a huge travesty and dissapointment that our very own gov't are as you said stealing our children from the good parent and either giving them right back where they were daily abused and tortured. Or they take them and then sell them for a very nice cps bonus. I live in ca. and it was so good to finally read something that is exactly what I continue to bust this unjust, illegal govt agencies that you speak of. Although I so wish you and your children and me and mine would not have had too learn thru such agony. I hope you and your daughters are doing well. As for me and my sons...13 yrs. and still doing whatever i can to see them again. but for this cause I will never stop! thx again for what you wrote. A mother can become very tired in her quest for real justice. And thats just the way cps likes it!
