Women’s rights advocate Zainab Salbi takes a journey through New Delhi’s red light district. She interviews a brothel owner who explains that the majority of prostitutes are trafficked women who have been sold into slavery.
Have you ever tried to spotlight the modern slavery system in Saudi Arabia?
Slavery freedom rules are now called "Iqama Transfer or Sponsorship transfer"
for doing so sometime sponsor request for great sum of money. if not they send the person back to his country within limit of few days.
Capitalism is modern day slavery. Think about it, we're bound by debt to work for little wage that does not even compare to our student loans, mortgages, car loans, utility bills, etc.
Agreed , but it is the best system we have.Just be savy use Your head and work Your way to success.

Unchecked, capitalism results in slavery. Just look at the child labor in the Industrial Revolution; if you want to see a more humane aspect of capitalism you have to put regulations and enforcements that keep people from taking advantage of other people. Our "Checks and Balances" government seems to do this quite well despite the flack everyone gives them. Half the country wants less government, the other half wants more... the key is balance and offsetting the extremists.

Under slavery you are not allowed to change jobs. Under modern capitalism you can. Though it could be argued that the early days of the US industrial revolution did have this since companies could indebt their workers to them, making it impossible to switch jobs. Much of the 'good old days' of the robber barrons and union busting were essentially slave labor where it cost more to work for a company then you made in wages.

Ding Ding Ding.....America is currently a slave like system. Your 100% right. Most Americans are forced(YES FORCED, YOU CANT BUY A HOUSE OR CAR ANY OTHER WAY UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY) into debt. So much so that 400$ of a 1000$ house payment are going toward them allowing you to borrow that money. Its insane....If anything America is a fascist country at this point....I think the bailouts are proof of that.

What part of working a job, getting paid and paying for things that you want or debt you incurred for things you want is anywhere close to slavery? The article is about individuals who are SOLD into slavery. Shouldn't our focus be on their horrible plight? These women have to work in a brothel under threat of violence. They cannot leave under threat of violence, and they don't receive a salary for their "work". That is the reality of modern slavery. Let's keep the focus on the plight of those who are being abused by slave masters. Times may be tough for many in America but we are not forced to have sex in a brothel with one disgusting patron after another.

NO. 'Slavery' to your mortgage and student loans is NOT equivalent, not even remotely so, to human trafficking. The comparison only trivializes the suffering these women have to go through.

Mortgages, cars and student loans are optional and doesn't make one a slave. They are choices one makes. When I lived around L.A. there was a a few people who lived near the nude beach because it was a bit of a hike to get there and cops rarely went there. The one guy I'm thinking about had a tent and his own little camp site. I don't know exactly how he got food but did not have a job, a car, mortgage any of that stuff.

You know it cheaper for employers to have their employees not be slaves? The cost of room and board and basic health care for a slave was more capital in the days of American slavery than the current average worker gets paid. Think about it: The reason we don't have slavery is because it's too expensive more most industries. If the north would have found to be as profitable as the south, we'd never would have the civil war.

Do NOT equate capitalism with modern day slavery. I work for an anti-trafficking organization in India and your comment makes me sick. Being in debt and consumed by materialism is NOTHING like being drugged, waking up to find yourself being sold into the pocession of a sadistic brothel owner, and being raped 25 times a day by men with STDs for years on end. Instead of reading about the modern abolition movement and making ridiculous comments, maybe you should stop feeding into the capitalist system you seem to hate so much and do something about ensuring freedom for victims of violent oppression.

Maybe cnn could do a bit on the human traffic and sex slaves in Guam, on American soil.
If you feel violated you HAVE a choice of not going there to work. Even if you are on iqama they are bound to pay you your wages (no matter how crappy they are).
Its analagous to people illegally entering in the states and working for crappy wages 7 days a week. Its a CHOICE they made, why blame the US for it ?
Not sure, why all the subjects of this news and other sex related crimes are Muslims even though it is only 20% of their population. Is having 4 wives not good enough especially in India where they are allowed to follow Sharia...
Sharia law?? There is the problem that pedophile Mohammed wrote that garbage, and we all know that he wanted his girls young 8-12. Muslims have zero respect for the womenfolk in their countries.
I enjoy when people call Muhammad a pedophile, when so was everyone else at that time+before then. Joseph was a pedophile, Mary was what... like 13 years old? Shoot, our Bible itself tells us that after a war, we have our picking of the women, we shave their heads and make them our slaves.
Slavery has nothing to do with religion. It stems purely from our human thinking that just because we are of a certain race, gender, class, etc..., that we are better than everyone else. When we as humans finally get over ourselves, then we can start making progress.

Your post stems from an ignorant stereotype that has unfortunately been accepted by some Muslims. Here's the truth: Ayesha (r) was not a young girl when she married. More valid estimations of her age would have placed her at an age of at least 17 years. It is not uncommon for older men to marry younger women (see Trump) nor has it been unusual for girls to marry during adolescence for most of human history (Shakespeare's rather noncontroversial play Romeo and Juliet features a 14 year bride as the lead. Her mother even has a line referencing the fact that she was nursing Juliet by that age. Her father was certainly no young stud). In the post-Industrial age, we have delayed or even abandoned marriage but girls as young as 12 and 13 have babies, often by older men. Anyway, here's a link to a website that will explain in detail the truth about Ayesha's (R) age http://www.iiie.net/index.php?q=node/58 .
March 29, 2011 at 4:59 pm |
Ana
Here are some highlights on why Ayesha's frequently reported age at marriage is wrong. (Quoted from article referenced above)
Most of the narratives printed in the books of hadith are reported only by Hisham ibn `Urwah, who was reporting on the authority of his father. First of all, more people than just one, two or three should logically have reported. It is strange that no one from Medina, where Hisham ibn `Urwah lived the first 71 years of his life narrated the event, despite the fact that his Medinan pupils included the well-respected Malik ibn Anas. The origins of the report of the narratives of this event are people from Iraq, where Hisham is reported to have shifted after living in Medina for most of his life. (Quick note: Hisham ibn 'Urbah was very old when he moved to Iraq and began to make many errors that suggest failure of his memory and judgment. Reports of Ayesha's youth at marriage were likely errors made by a man entering senility)
HRONOLOGY: It is vital also to keep in mind some of the pertinent dates in the history of Islam:
pre-610 CE: Jahiliya (pre-Islamic age) before revelation
610 CE: First revelation
610 CE: AbuBakr accepts Islam
613 CE: Prophet Muhammad begins preaching publicly.
615 CE: Emigration to Abyssinia
616 CE: Umar bin al Khattab accepts Islam
620 CE: Generally accepted betrothal of Ayesha to the Prophet
622 CE: Hijrah (emigation to Yathrib, later renamed Medina)
623/624 CE: Generally accepted year of Ayesha living with the Prophet
A narrative regarding Ayesha’s participation in Badr is given in the hadith of Muslim, (Kitabu’l-jihad wa’l-siyar, Bab karahiyati’l-isti`anah fi’l-ghazwi bikafir). Ayesha, while narrating the journey to Badr and one of the important events that took place in that journey, says: “when we reached Shajarah”. Obviously, Ayesha was with the group travelling towards Badr. A narrative regarding Ayesha’s participation in the Battle of Uhud is given in Bukhari (Kitabu’l-jihad wa’l-siyar, Bab Ghazwi’l-nisa’ wa qitalihinna ma`a’lrijal): “Anas reports that on the day of Uhud, people could not stand their ground around the Prophet. [On that day,] I saw Ayesha and Umm-i-Sulaim, they had pulled their dress up from their feet [to avoid any hindrance in their movement].” Again, this indicates that Ayesha was present in the Battles of Uhud and Badr.
It is narrated in Bukhari (Kitabu’l-maghazi, Bab Ghazwati’l-khandaq wa hiya’l-ahza’b): “Ibn `Umar states that the Prophet did not permit me to participate in Uhud, as at that time, I was 14 years old. But on the day of Khandaq, when I was 15 years old, the Prophet permitted my participation.”
Based on the above narratives, (a) the children below 15 years were sent back and were not allowed to participate in the Battle of Uhud, and (b) Ayesha participated in the Battles of Badr and Uhud
CONCLUSION: Ayesha’s participation in the Battles of Badr and Uhud clearly indicates that she was not nine years old but at least 15 years old. After all, women used to accompany men to the battlefields to help them, not to be a burden on them. This account is another contradiction regarding Ayesha’s age.
According to almost all the historians, Asma, the elder sister of Ayesha was 10 years older than Ayesha. If Asma was 100 years old in 73 AH, she should have been 27 or 28 years old at the time of the hijrah.
If Asma was 27 or 28 years old at the time of hijrah, Ayesha should have been 17 or 18 years old. Thus, Ayesha, being 17 or 18 years of at the time of Hijra, she started to cohabit with the Prophet between at either 19 to 20 years of age.
Based on Hajar, Ibn Katir, and Abda’l-Rahman ibn abi zanna’d, Ayesha’s age at the time she began living with the Prophet would be 19 or 20.

its amazing how americans (and it is americans only) love to compare the values of 1400 year old societies and today's life. Its like comparing apples and oranges. American values themselves can't stay the same, in 100 years they have changed so much so americans cant seem to comprehend that values 1400 years old will be more foreign.
BTW if Aisha was soo traumatized like any victim would be, why has there been no quotes from her that are negative? where are all the negative statements from her?? Wouldn't a victim shout and scream the truth??? You can't hide the truth.

The most profound compilation of lies in one sentence. Firstly, the article does not even remotely mention "muslims" (try reading for a change troll).. Secondly, India does not implement Sharia law, although if it did you would never flourish as it does now. Thirdly, you are a pathetic excuse for a human being
As noted, India is not a Muslim country. Hinduism is the major religion. There's also a very sizable Christian population. PEOPLE are given to disturbing behavior. No single group has a lock on it. You could purchase the favors of a very small child on Craigslist or whereever the pedophiles are shopping these days. PEOPLE BEHAVE BADLY...EVERYWHERE...ALL THE TIME. If you want to do something about if other than squabble then stand against injustice whereever you find it but start in your own backyard.
Prophet Muhammad (S) is believed to have once said "Help your Muslim brother, even if he is wrong" His companions were shocked and asked "How should we help him if he is wrong" To which the prophet responded "Prevent him from doing injustice"
I haven't heard anyone who speaks ill of any prophet say a single thing that a sensible person would wish to quote, let alone quote 1600+ years later. Given all of our advancements as human beings, we remain petty at best.

I smuggled some of these prostitutes across the border but nobody wants to hire them as they are black and ugly and they smell like Gau Jal all the time.
Its funny hw the Muslim brothel owners house has a Hindu God's picture hanging int he wall. LOL! It`happens only in India. And the owner is an activist??? Crazy,
I saw a report about the same trafficking here in Texas, in Houston. The advocate pass with the reported in a car indicating all the places where this was happening. But the police says they are trying, but more places are created. Just imagine that can not be handled in the richest nation of the world.
I really wish some of the post here would have to go and live in some of these places. Maybe then you would have a different prospective of freedom and the role of government in the quality of life in the USA.
How is it that in this day, there is still a mentality that one person should own another and even worst command that they degrade themselves.
You are a pervert and sick man as long as ppl like you are there these trafficking will be there. woman trafficking is a serious problem around the world not only INDIA even in developed nations like US ,UK , JAPAN has this problem. This Virus of trafficking is growing day by day only because Governments are not committed and Police dont have resources and special task forces to eliminate this problem because governments don't fund Police to go after these perverts.

Any Government cannot stop the prostitute trafficking itself because governments are made up by the dirty man too. If the elected government by “the civilian” gives more power by funding, authority to police department then you know what happened in North India, in this case everywhere. Prostitute problem can be solved by individual like you or activist group or who are committed to settle the victim or give the best education to young and poor family.

CNN It is about Time that you focus and expose Prostitution and Slavery in your own ciuntry America for a change. Try this In Vallejo near San Francisco Neighbor Patrols neighborhood from Prostitution and many more.
Get over yourselves. America, America, America. Americans spend close to $100 a day. 2.8 billion people live on less than $2 per day. Get over yourselves.
We are all well aware of the income of Americans and Indians; this article however is not about economics.. maybe you're thinking that out of the 100 dollars Americans spend a day.... some of it goes towards human trafficking and prostitution in America? That would make more sense seeing as how prostitution and human trafficking is a problem in the US as well right?

I just don't understand the logic here. Yes, they might free victims of sex trafficking, but what after that? After they free bonded slaves, what will happen to them after that? Of course, it's a horrible, horrible thing, but usually it's all they have. Before we try to go into countries with the idea of freeing everyone, we need to first make sure that something is lined up for them, because more often than not, it's a much better world inside that murky factory or brothel than it is alone on the streets. Still, I applaud the efforts, CNN.
You're totally right. The problem with people who are on this anti human trafficking crusade don't realize that as bad as these women have it their alternative is to starve to death on the streets. If you're going to free someone from the only job they have maybe you should have another job lined up for them before you do it.
yes true we do have vets begging but that's not the majority. We are wasteful as a country and we are spoiled for the most part. Even our people who live in poverty don't know the lower levels of poverty of some other places

As someone who is proud of the modern India, I have no problem with CNN publishing this article. Its a relevant story. Prostitution is in every country but it varies. In some countries its legal and professional; in most its illegal and semi-professional where the women makes choices. In this situation the money in the distribution chain is small compared to the take of the prostitute. Even if its illegal – if its not actively policed the overhead goes down and the net result is the overall net black money doesnt create a strong powerbase. This is why in US cities drugs money can corrupt police but prostitutions rarely does. In India, prostitution is sometime semi-professional in some areas in Mumbai; here the prostitutes hold the power. But the majority of them are bonded illiterate young adults/teens. The money intake is high enough where the majority of money is going into the supply, marketing and sales and the prostitute gets literally nothing. When theres this much money involved then the police are corrupted and the prostitute loses their only legal outlet and are trapped. In any sense of the world this is slavery. Sure this model happens in pockets in the west but India its the norm. I wont be moral and talk about whats right or wrong but the goal should be to understand supply and demand and reduce the overall black market money involved. India's entire system is setup in a way that creates the problem.
I am an economics professor of bonded labor and slavery.
The article is about women kidnapped from their lives and sold into slavery. Not people who went into it as their own choice for whatever reason. That has nothing to do with whether prostitution is legal or not or about supply and demand.
Karen, if you really want to solve the problem, not just complain that women are oppressed, you need to take the blinders off. There is a lot to this subject. It's worth taking a look at the whole picture, not just the part you want to see.

Sonia is right. After all She is the one running the nation.
Given the tenor of these posts, I have to conclude that those institutionalized with mental and emotional problems have been given access to the internet.
Wow, really? What exactly would you like to say, that isn't what you would consider, mental? I think it's interesting how you took the time to write a post that has not a trace of any intelligence.
Why aren't we worrying more about the trafficking going on right here in the US? There was a story on the news in Memphis, TN about trafficked women and a lot of them were young girls being passed off as women, sick!
$ex in any news is good news. If CNN reporters smelled another $ex story in Thimpu (yeah, that's right, did you guys with your internetz ever hear of that place before?) they would start to figure out first about how to convince Americans that such a place exists. Once that's done, they would unleash the story.
It just shows that humanity is the lowest form of filth on this planet. This day and age where we should be more civil and we are not. What happened to the dinosaurs should happen to humanity. Unbelievable.........
You are doing no good with things like this, CNN...
The "Anti-S-x Trafficking" agenda is:
1. Militant women's man-hating.
2. Religious backed prejudice.
-and-
3. Rich Elites who don't want any "Common men" even relatively prosperous ones rubbing elbows with them during THEIR S-x tours. After all, Joe Anybody might just marry some Asian cutie after having such fun renting them, but when he hears her sister was "Snuffed" by some rich elite creep he'll try for justice.
The only thing you guys might manage to do is hinder middle class western men going on S-x tours. This is, IMO, the agenda of the women who don't want competition and the religious freaks who are bigoted against other cultures. But, without relatively nice, gentile, big-spending "Westerners" they'll still be slaves. Only this time starving slowly even selling themselves, no chance, even a remote one of any escape. 'cause once the western men stop coming, heh so to speak, they'll toss a few "Chick Tracts" and leave.
The brothel owner and the woman hugging the limelight are both Muslim. India's glory days were when it was a Buddhist nation. Buddhist nations like Japan and China are way on top while India is a 3rd world country because of the one religion that wiped out Buddhism and became the biggest minority in India.
This is the reality that shows that "women's liberation" is not how we women dress or talk; it is the force that can make change in every level of women's life. Social exploitation is the main terror in modern society. Moral decay in the name of freedom has established "might is right" all over the world. We have become an ignorant world, basic quality of life is not available in the major part of the world. We just live for ourself, and defining this as a modern society.
I don't see what this has to do with women's lib. This is about crime. It isn't like it is legal to kidnap women and force them to be prostitutes. The same thing still happens in the US as well.
Prostitution and Trafficking is also Present here in Our Good Old US of A, Why did CNN had to travel all the way to India for 3 min clip for that.
They can have just searched the website Craigslist for that.
The majority of the prostitutes in these brothels are slaves forced into it after being kidnapped.

I love India. Yeah right!!
When they stop caste-banging; whenthey stop class warefare; when they stop mistreating the poor; when the public officials stop taking bribes; when the police stop raping citizens; when they curtail the extreme poverty that is so rampant in that country; when they realize that without opportunities form the West and other countries awash with Indians, India would be nothing.
Everyone who cries, weeps, and makes a modern day fool of themselves for complaining on having Obama in office are most likely the same ones who cried and wept for our government to change health care. Although I may not agree with everything Obama is doing at least he is trying to change it for the better. I am still trying to find the connection on this story and Obama but as usual you scared little children will find any topic to bash him. You see, another freedom you have is to NOT have to stay here. There is Germany, perfect for you close minded racists who cry 'Illegals!!!" to justlfy your own shortcomings. I bet it just eats you up inside having an African American in a position of power. God bless white America!
And you need a reality check. Nice retort there by the way. I love how you used facts and examples to back your disagreement. Oh wait, all you did was insult me....
I'm glad CNN is raising awareness, but I'm so tired of awareness-only campaigns. Doing right means you have to go beyond just raising awareness, and that's where the liberals don't dare to tread, because it usually means violence. Nonviolence has never solved a thing, actually. Criminals only respond to superior force. If that superior force is law enforcement, great, otherwise YOU have to provide the force.
If you want to save a lot of women, you'd better be ready to fight. Some sociopaths simply have to be killed in order to get the job done, period. Or did you think we defeated the Nazis with a lot of talks and marches?
im amazed all you argue about is the politics of this try to think how the women might be feeling instead of argueing about the stupid stuff you guys are ridiculous its not there fault they are being trafficked.
I recently heard about an orgnaization in India ("Project Rescue" – http://www.projectrescue.com/) who rescues women and children from sexual slavery, restores and provides hope. So step up to wipe out this crime from the face of the earth. Good job CNN to bring this awareness.
A wonderful story. Praise to the reporter and CNN. This is a story that needs to be accented further. And also it is so dissappointing the comments being made by men here on this story. I don't even know where to begin.
What part of Money 101 do all of you idiots not understand? Learn to live within an acceptable budget. Ask yourself the two following questions beore buying anthing: 1. Do I really need this? 2. Can I do without this? If you have any intelligence at all – you'll make the correct choice based on honest answers. What? YOU EXPECTED ME ANSWER THEM FOR YOU? Then I guess you don't the common sense that GOD gave a billy goat.
The ugliest reality is that which we refuse to look upon. Sex Slaves Trafficking has been going on for thoughsands of years, and in some countries people will even sell their daughters into it. So, for every crying heart, there is another cold heart that looks upon a woman with nothing more than lust and dollar signs. If this wasn't so the Porn industry wouldn't be the highest grossing business on the enternet. We as human being are so busy hiding from our sexual desires that those without morals easily capitalize upon fulfilling those very desires by any means necessary. An Ugly reality indeed.
The trafficking of women and girls as sex and labor slaves is a direct manifestation of the rampant misogyny of the male population who in error and stupidity think their twisted ways will continue unabated ... NOT. Saving one woman one girl at a time is certainly the right thing to do. Certainly Zainab Salbi has more courage than all the woman-haters hiding behind their anonymity within these comments and you, dear cowards, are the problem with your inculcated and over-inflated sense of importance. Why don't you misogynists build yourselves a rocket and blast yourselves permanently into outerspace so we can clean up the Earth and restore the Beauty and Peace you so handily destroyed. Go away... far, FAR AWAY!
Only 14, Bangladeshi girl charged with adultery was lashed to death, last words to her mother proclaimed her innocence. But it was too late http://www.muslimwomennews.com/n.php?nid=6282
. . .CNN is to be congragulated for exposing the terrible and complicated conditions of modern day slavery in the world.
. . .This is an economic problem that will only get worse unless the economic conditions in these countries change. These tragic victims do not have any other recourse than prostitution if they want to avoid starvation.
. . .The governments in most of these countries will not feed their starving homeless people on the streets. Thus, there is a never-ending supply of starving homeless people who must sell themeselves into slavery if they do not want to starve to death.
. . .The United Nations must address this human catastrophe with much more effort.
Tremendous issues here. I am very satisfied to see your article. Thank you a lot and I am taking a look forward to touch you. Will you kindly drop me a mail?

CNN is joining the fight to end modern-day slavery by shining a spotlight on the horrors of modern-day slavery, amplifying the voices of the victims, highlighting success stories and helping unravel the complicated tangle of criminal enterprises trading in human life. WHY WE'RE DOING THIS | MORE ABOUT THE PROJECT
Every Day in Cambodia
'Money buys injustice'
Looking for a virgin sale every day. CNN investigates with Hollywood star Mira Sorvino.Watch the trailer
Don't go into debt beyond your income.......
Agreed , but it is the best system we have.Just be savy use Your head and work Your way to success.
Then quite simply you are living beyond your means. Capitalism is not slavery. You are not forced to buy a product, well except for obamacare ( which is another nightmare from the fool we voted in as President) .
Not to mention the fact that hispanics are allowed to come here and work for less than ten dollars a day. The democrats scream race if you want to send them back because they want that free labor. Democrats are slave masters.
Get yourself a better paying job or go and work for the US goverment
Dulfiqar...don't go into thought beyond your reason. Trafficking humans is slavery. Being beholden to capitalism is choice.
Learn to spend within your means...
To Dhulfiqar
You wrote "Capitalism is modern day slavery...our student loans, mortgages, car loans, utility bills, etc.".
Are you a slave if you are entitled to a college education and the right to own property? It's mind-boggling to hear this kind of comments from people like you with everything that's been happening around the world lately.
Owe the bank of your choice as much as you think you can afford as opposed to owing the state EVERYTHING.
Dan, go back to Nazi Germany.
This comment is so idiotic. Poor me, I had to go to college. Poor me, I can't own enough cars. I am a slave to my fur coat. You do not have the brain capacity to understand why this comment is so insulting to these woman.
What part of working a job, getting paid and paying for things that you want or debt you incurred for things you want is anywhere close to slavery? That's not the same ballpark, not the same league, hell it's not even the same fricking game. Nothing you said made any sense, we're all dumber for having read it, and may god have mercy on your soul.
@ Chris, no one forces you into debt to own a car. I have never borrowed money for transportation. Work, save your money, and buy a used car within your budget. I laugh so hard every time I see a Benz or Hummer in the driveway of a sub 300K home... It's a freaking car people, you don't need to spend more than 5% of your income on your car.
Chris said, "YOU CANT BUY A HOUSE OR CAR ANY OTHER WAY UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY."
Now there's a comment of pure genius, you don't see those on the CNN boards every day, do you?
Dhulfiqar.. for you, stupidity is slavery
Debt is a choice you have made, and by the way many of us live in this great capitalist society and choose to stay debt free and live within our means...being sold into slavery is a horrific crime against other human beings...hardly comparable!
I agree, beside H1 visa thing which is no different than the iqama.
Our system is far from perfect and had you likened the US welfare system to indentured servitude I wouldn't argue with you but our capitalistic system is slavery? That's ridiculous. People never learn financial discipline, they want want want and call it 'need'. Look at the biggest American success story going today, Apple...the company that makes NOTHING anyone NEEDS but exactly what they WANT.
I am sure you are an expert on Islam.
When we as humans finally get over ourselves, then we can start making progress.
you are stupid
Also lets not forget forced marriage to cousins, "temporary"wifes, female circumcition, in India prostitution can be a family inherited "profession "husbands and fathers put the daughters to work as prositutes as young as 6.
Because the media is biased. Look up the statistics and you will see that there are estimates that another rape occur in US every 2 minutes and it is estimated that 80% of rapes go unreported.
Yeah so you better hide your kids, hide your wife, and hide your husband cause they rapin everybody out here....*rollseyes*
Jim, that was amazing! ahahaha!! Greatest youtube video ever!
What you would you think about someone that maxed out their credit and amassed huge debt living beyond their means. That is the example of the US government's do as I say, not as I do policy. Joe taxpayer is not allowed to do that but Uncle Sam can borrow to the hilt.
What matters is who frequents these places not who runs them.
It matters who frequents them, all right, but OF COURSE it matters who trades in/owns slaves! Do you think you can stop enough "johns" to make them take up used car sales? No. They are criminals who need prosecution in order to bring their careers in misery to a stop.
The most profound compilation of lies in one sentence. Firstly, the article does not even remotely mention "muslims" (try reading for a change troll).. Secondly, India does not implement Sharia law, although if it did you would never flourish as it does now. Thirdly, you are a pathetic excuse for a human being
Regards,
Rizwan
*prostitution would never flourish..
Have you heard about Muslim Personal Law in India?According to this law a Muslim can marry 4 times in India. If you don't know about it then don't blame India.Go enjoy your life and don't force other to follow your holy books. We are living more happily then you people for decades without your books.India is a secular country .As everybody say Truth Prevails
Whats with the grammar?
Are you a teacher or something?
Yeah, that's the important thing to take from this.
CNN fixed it. Original text of this article was impossible to read.
Hmmmmm..how do I get one?
I hear Zainab Salbi will bring some back with her? Can CNN confirm this?
I smuggled some of these prostitutes across the border but nobody wants to hire them as they are black and ugly and they smell like Gau Jal all the time.
Yeah right ... as if men who go to prostitutes are picky. You sound like a class act.
I'm not spending any $$ on any nasty ohhhhhhhh
Actually, the correct grammar is, "What's with the grammar?"
....hmmm, didn't know one could hear an apostrophe....
Actually, the correct grammar, for the second post, is, "What's with the grammar"?
Actually, shouldn't it say the correct punctuation for the second post is, "What's with the grammar"?
I have to chime in here...LOL
It should be:
Actually, the correct grammar is, "What's with the grammar?".
I dont care what happens send the troops in bddy
Indian prositutes no good...smell like curry.
You are a pervert and sick man as long as ppl like you are there these trafficking will be there. woman trafficking is a serious problem around the world not only INDIA even in developed nations like US ,UK , JAPAN has this problem. This Virus of trafficking is growing day by day only because Governments are not committed and Police dont have resources and special task forces to eliminate this problem because governments don't fund Police to go after these perverts.
mahi

Any Government cannot stop the prostitute trafficking itself because governments are made up by the dirty man too. If the elected government by “the civilian” gives more power by funding, authority to police department then you know what happened in North India, in this case everywhere. Prostitute problem can be solved by individual like you or activist group or who are committed to settle the victim or give the best education to young and poor family.
all indians smell like that not only the Oohhhhhhhhhhhssss
What can I get for 2 Dollars? Is that a joke? Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. Gas alone is $3.75 right now. With utility bills, car note, car insurance, rent / mortgage... how can anyone in usa live on 2$ a day. What a joke. You Hubris.
If you're going to free someone from the only job they have maybe you should have another job lined up for them before you do it.
this is so true! i didn't even think about this from that perspective.
Last I checked America has the same issue. Except here the underage ones will go after ex-football player's bank accounts.
Get over yourselves. America, America, America. Americans live on close to $100 per day. 2.8 billion people live on less than $2. Get over yourself.
Yeah, it's not like we have vets living on the streets begging for food...
yes true we do have vets begging but that's not the majority. We are wasteful as a country and we are spoiled for the most part. Even our people who live in poverty don't know the lower levels of poverty of some other places
Well, since 5% of the population has 95% of the wealth, that means on average americans are only at $5/day....
hm, really? why don't you count all the expenses you make today, including utilities, etc. and tell me how that $5 adds up.
No wonder americans are living in debt way above their head and go to those areas living on $2 /day no body is in debt since they cannot afford the debt and or they are contend to live that way
What can I get for 2 Dollars? Is that a joke? Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. Gas alone is $3.75 right now. With utility bills, car note, car insurance, rent / mortgage... how can anyone in usa live on 2$ a day. What a joke. You Hubris...
Agreed
Oh really? Do you have anything to offer, or just mocking posts?
Wow, really? What exactly would you like to say, that isn't what you would consider, mental? I think it's interesting how you took the time to write a post that has not a trace of any intelligence.
*Buys plane ticket to India*
Not funny. These women face horrors that you will never even imagine. Get over yourself. The majority of these "women" are UNDER 18!!!!!!!!!
" The majority of these "women" are UNDER 18!!!!!!!!!"
*purchases non-stop express flight*
go ahead, If Aids and Herpies is what you are looking for, enjoy a prostitute
Why aren't we worrying more about the trafficking going on right here in the US? There was a story on the news in Memphis, TN about trafficked women and a lot of them were young girls being passed off as women, sick!
Well said..
Of all the good developments and advancements happening in India. I applaud CNN for highlighting this topic.
CNN how often u cover Indian News?
$ex in any news is good news. If CNN reporters smelled another $ex story in Thimpu (yeah, that's right, did you guys with your internetz ever hear of that place before?) they would start to figure out first about how to convince Americans that such a place exists. Once that's done, they would unleash the story.
How'd he feel if this happened to his sister or daughter?
It is not because of any religion, it is because we are not following any religion to build our conscience and moral. Everything has become a slogan.
The lost of good moral is the lost of humanity
You are right, because of the one religion that wiping out Sikhism, Buddhism and others religions in India.
Have trouble reading John. Prostitution is not slavery.
NUKE'EM FROM THE ORBIT! JUSTICE SERVED! PROBLEM SOLVED!
Nuke 'em? We have the same problem here, dumb@$$!
You need help
And you need a reality check. Nice retort there by the way. I love how you used facts and examples to back your disagreement. Oh wait, all you did was insult me....
I LOVE THIS!!!
Women trafficking!!!?? What about the CHILDREN trafficking? That wasn't even mentioned.
Interesting Report. I would love to know how they got interview access to the brothel owner and his wife.
Good question. I was wondering the same thing.
Obama doesn’t care about Indian people!
im amazed all you argue about is the politics of this try to think how the women might be feeling instead of argueing about the stupid stuff you guys are ridiculous its not there fault they are being trafficked.
imma let you finish but...
he tries to make it look like he does. he's already taken a few trips to india to visit the prime minister
I recently heard about an orgnaization in India ("Project Rescue" – http://www.projectrescue.com/) who rescues women and children from sexual slavery, restores and provides hope. So step up to wipe out this crime from the face of the earth. Good job CNN to bring this awareness.
And India is supposed to be the next SuperPower or BRIC whatever...what a shame.
No more sell human for Aroung the World. Need to be fight for Empty the trafficked.
Hey Annexian. You are out there baby.
Those women are so ugly It's a wonder how they make any money at all.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMM WARM CURRY!!
Remember boys! Dinner first, then hanky panky.
Tremendous issues here. I am very satisfied to see your article. Thank you a lot and I am taking a look forward to touch you. Will you kindly drop me a mail?
