'Slumdog Millionaire' actor on fighting human trafficking

"Slumdog Millionaire" actor Anil Kapoor talks to CNN's Mallika Kapur about the importance of the fight against human trafficking and why the issue matters so much to him.

He discusses a special trip he made to a village in rural India that was almost entirely male because so many of the girls had been trafficked.

I am so glad to hear of Anil Kapoor helping to champion the cause against sex slavery and human trafficking. I love the tie-in with the film "Slumdog Milllionaire" which had a theme of child labor and sexual exploitation.

I volunteer with StreetLight Phoenix, a safe house for girls recovered from prostitution, and I also write as the National Sex Trafficking Examiner. I found Anil's story fascinating and did an article of my own on him.

Thanks for being part of a dynamic and growing team around the world to eradicate child trafficking.

Human trafficking is a global issues thousand of young girls and boys are sold into modern-day slavery watch this documentary it provides a compelling look into this dark, inhuman, and exploitative world and shows how each one of us can help to prevent modern-day slavery.
I would like to suggest a documentary by MTV Exit's "SOLD"
It features Pramila, an 18 year old girl who was trafficked from Nepal to a brothel in Pune ; Afsana, a 16 year old who was trafficked from her village in Bangladesh into forced domestic servitude in Kolkata; and Zakir who was just 11 when he was trafficked by his aunt into a zari factory. Their stories are told alongside those of other people from the trafficking chain including a middleman who preyed on young women in Mumbai before selling them brothels, a zari factory owner who has witnessed trafficking and exploitation and an inspirational trafficking survivors, Sarita who works as a border guard looking out for potential victims and traffickers.

I'm grateful for and impressed with CNN's Freedom Project. It will be an enormous assist in raising global awareness of slavery. Thank you for having the courage to take on this critical subject that others have not.

Having just returned from working with children freed from brothels in a major city in India, even my limited experience showed me how deeply entrenched the system of slavery is there. It's anchoring in Jāti will make it much more difficult to unseat than "traditional "slavery. It's not only about money (the driving force of slavery in most countries), it's embedded in the seemingly unshakeable belief that those in servitude are irrevocably destined to be there. There are courageous selfless Indians fighting against that philosophy but the huge numbers of those oppressed, the generations of ingrained acceptance and the enormous amounts of money and GNP generated by slavery in all it's forms will, I believe, make India one of the hardest places in the world to overthrow this crime against Humanity.

Why not look at countries like thialand, USA, Phillipines, China, Japan, Saudia Arabia ect., the big people who put these young and old and Companies who hire use them for sex and work slaves. China guarntees slave labor hired by American invested in factories to get companies to move to china. This is the reason why the US unemployment is so high, and US economy is not responding as it did before China built all the factories in China using US companies money.

Look at buildings in asia where companies are putting nets under windows to catch people who jump out windows trying to commit suicide because of slave labor and pressure and long hours, no breaks.

I live in Saudi Arabia where the citizens of this great nation owe much of their success and development to the blood, back-breaking work, stress and fear of the millions of slaves that are brought to this country to work for its people, its government, and its institutions. It's a country of contradictions where conservative religious principles rule the country but where dishonest, inhumane, and totally unfair practices rule the realities of millions of workers who come to the country sponsored by wealthy employers who take unfair advantage of their need for work and their willingness to be close to the most important sites of their religion. It's a very complicated situation but one very worthy of your inclusion in your program. But Saudi Arabia is not alone...... other countries in the Arab Gulf States are as guilty if not more so. Please investigate the human trafficking going on here. You won't need to leave the airport to check out some of the worst victims–porters at the airport.

IT'S ABOUT TIME! If you're looking for a reputable non profit organization that has been fighting to stop child slavery, human trafficking and sexual exploitation for years, go to:

I was offended when I heard words like "Comeback" when Ricky announced he had a new CD and Tour coming up after a 3 year absence from the spotlight, because he was working tirelessly on something much more important than entertaining! He uses his celebrity status, fame and wealth to help stop this abhorrent issue that many don't realize is third behind drug and arms smuggling and a billion dollar industry. Generating public awareness and raising money to save these children was his primary objective and most don't realize that when there is a catastrophic disaster, it's not the Red Cross that shows up on the scene first, it's human traffickers! There are many ways to get involved and there is a lot all of us can do. Go to the link above and find out how you can get involved and help.

Advise readers how amazing your product or service are well before providing to market it in their mind. Convince them by way of weblogs, video lessons, and text that it is specifically what they need. If you can get them for the get page because of their bank card currently within their hands, you are going to extremely increase your sales.

Be sure that you stay away from mixing coffee legumes from diverse brand names. Not simply will the taste be different, but additionally, you will be mixing two groups of coffees which have distinct expiry dates and levels of quality. Put with the exact same brand name and the same travelling bag of espresso beans whenever.
