Burned Gadhafi nanny making progress

A nanny who suffered extensive burns when, she said, a relative of ousted Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's family poured boiling water on her, may be discharged from a hospital in Malta as early as next week. She has been receiving medial treatment there since she arrived from Libya in September.

CNN journalists came upon domestic worker Shweyga Mullah in August in the plush home of Gadhafi's son Hannibal Gadhafi after anti-Gadhafi forces overran Tripoli. Mullah, in her 20s, was sitting on the floor of an empty building.

She worked as a nanny for two of the couple's children. When she couldn't keep one from crying, and refused to beat the child, she said Aline Gadhafi poured the boiling water on her head.

Now, after weeks of treatment, hospital officials say Mullah continues to make good progress. Since she arrived in Malta on September 15, she's had two different sets of surgical procedures.

One surgery, in late September, was focused on her torso. Doctors performed a skin graft on the front of her torso to help treatment in the burns.

The second procedure was on October 15 to help with burns on her scalp area. Doctors haven't done a skin graft there because they are wanting to try and allow some of the hair follicles to grow back and those that are there to survive. It's something Mullah has asked for. So the procedure was really aimed at cleaning the wounds and promoting healing.

Officials say she could be discharged as early as next week and become an out-patient. This would mean she could stay in an apartment that the Maltese government is providing for her, and get some sense of normalcy back into her life.

She'll continue with the physical therapy she's been receiving to try to free up her shoulder and continue the psychological counseling that's been so important for her to get over this trauma, officials said.

She was one of many worldwide caught in domestic servitude, a form of modern-day slavery. What is slavery? | The many forms slavery may take

Muslims are such nice, compassionate, chivalrous people....(note the sarcasm)

Nowhere else in the world will you find such a group that routinely does things like:

      1) Wear bombs into crowded public places to blow up innocent bystanders (any given Muslim "nation" on any given day).
      2) Bury women up to their necks in the sand and then execute them by throwing rocks at their head (Iran).
      3) Spray battery acid/poison on 7 year old girls for going to school in violation of Islamic Shariah Law (Afghanistan/Pakistan).
      4) Pour a pot of boiling water on their nanny, giving her 2nd/3rd degreee burns all over her body, because the children cried too much (Libya).
      5) Bomb their own civilians with napalm and air strikes (Syria, Libya).
      6) Imprison, rape, and persecute their own resistance leaders (any given Islamic "nation" on any given day).
      7) Go bonkers and decide to shoot up a local post office (Iraq, U.S.).
      8) Fly passenger airliners into buildings, all inhabited by civilian non-combatants (need we mention?).

Seeing a pattern here? Muslims are swine....and organized religion is a cancer to humanity.

If I am sure of something is that the people who do all the things you cited here are not Muslim. They claim to be Muslim but they are not because a Muslim would never do that. Islam is peace. Fanatics are twisted the tenets of my faith and the faith of million of others to commit atrocities under the banner of Islam. Allah does not lead us to confrontation or brutality in his name. Those actions represent the formulation and frailties of Humankind.

        Dear Faiza, get history right.
there was no land of palestinians before Israel. There was palestine and nomad lived there and some arabs that didn't care about this land., they started to care only after Jews started building there, making the desert into a paradise. When Israel became Israel all arabs YES ALL were welcomed to stay but they preferred to leave that to live with jews, after they left they regretted it since israel become a powerful economy and they missed their only chance to live in a democracy. NOBODY MADE THEM LEAVE, ENOUGH WITH THIS PROPAGANDA. You are right about the nazis they are pure evil.

        1. Just in case you are not aware:

.......a. Aline Gaddafi: is a Christian woman (model) from Lebanon.

.......b. Shweyga Mullah: is a Christian woman from Ethiopia

        2. As you can see, this case is about a brutal Christian woman (Aline Gaddafi) terrorizing another helpless Christian woman (Shweyga Mullah)

        3. Let's not use religion to justify the bad deeds of a few misguided people.

        Peace!

Following your logic, Christian abduct 11 year old and make then slaves for 20+ year or christian priest like boys....Stupidity has no limits and no religion. If you serious about solving worlds problem and not blindly support your own and bashing others, then point out the injustices comitted by states, occuping countries for their oil and wealth. if you remember the history of slavery in America, white slave owners used to bury their slave alive with their head out and pour syrup on them and let them be eaten alive by ants until they die as a form of punishment or for their own entertainment. So find out about your history before criticizing others. Bomb their own village: in lybia it was NATO and American in action, again your just showed the world how ignorant you are. Rape, don't get me started on that: Penn State....I don't know how to characterize you anymore.

CNN–why do you print this–It is nothing but racism in the most blatant sense! I am sickened by all of the racist comments against Muslims I see from racist trollers. I'm not a Muslim, I'm not a Christian–but I know Muslims–unlike this writer–I'm an American who has at times in his life lived in predominantly Muslim countries. Muslims are people just like everyone else. Most are decent, well-meaning people who want peace, love their children–no different from you and me.

Keith's sentiment resonates with me; however, my sense of justice simmers at the thought of Aline Gadhafi basking seaside on the protective shores of a neighboring nation, while Ms. Mullah struggles toward an untenable normalcy. What has Algeria, the perpetrator's host presumably, to say to this? Nothing? Perhaps its silence is the truest indicator of where these trafficked (read slave) laborers stand in the view of those nations whose inhabitants from such labor benefit most.

She played well with the propaganda hence the current treatment. The truth is she was burned by the rebels after they knew she used to work for Gaddafi son. Keep mouth shut parrot this story and we will treat you otherwise?
Why don't give us story of Nisreen (one of Gaddafi's bodyguards) who received similar fate as PoW and ended dead as they knew though they had forced her to give wrong story but she would have spilled the beans in the future.
Why are you quiet on the fate of Tawergha and Sirte?
You control the media and try to fool people. Why aren't you updating us on Libya anymore? Why you are not reporting the chaos that exist now and the revenge killings?

I cannot understand 90% of what you wrote, but I don't think anyone believes that all the stories coming out of Lybia are 100% true all the time and anyone who thinks that the media is the holy grail of truth is an idiot. The bottom line, is that someone did something terrible to this woman and her story (regardless of how true the current version is) did wonderufl things for bringing attention to the conflict in Lybia. I disagree that the rebels burned her. The wounds looked too old for it to have been the work of the rebels, they would have been much fresher. Google Hanibal and you will see a lenghty list of international charges against him and his wife and they keep getting of due to diplomatic immunity.

If you think the story was good in bringing to attention on sufferings of this ONE person why can't the same people do stories on sufferings on thousands in SIRTE, TAWERGHA and other places?
You are either part of the play or have been brainwashed in accepting the double standards even when it comes to citizens of Libya.

No difference between anto Gaddafi and the pro gaddafi, they are all Arabs and they are all barbaric, There are so many horrifying videos of Arab leaders and families inhuman acts on youtube.

        Matrix,
You have your reasoning mixed but you have highlighted the issue of the marionette rebels burning people coz of their colour. I wonder why there is no coverage on the barbaric acts being carried out by these people.
There is kind of media blackout on Libya now and I can't help but to wonder...
CNN interviewed one of Gaddafi bodyguards while she was chained to hospital bed. The same person ended burned dead a few days later and there is no story on that.
There is no story of killing PoWs.
There is no story on plunders and thefts committed by the rebels.
There is no story on lies by NTC.
        ....
but there is story on a nanny who was supposedly burned by Aline (wife of one of Gaddafi sons).
Stop playing with people feelings and handpicking ONE person and ignoring the sufferings being endured by so many.
Why don't you say up to now Sirte has only 6% of the population that was there before war?

"So the procedure was really aiming to clean the wounds and efforts to promote healing." s/b So the procedure was really an effort to clean the wounds and promote healing. You mentioned there is a lot of horrifying news to a lot of nannies. So, what? Does that make it any easier for this poor girl who was victimized by family of Muammar Ghaddafi? Last but not least, please check your spelling before you post anything like this... Email me if you have any questions. Dimbush@aol.com

you people are just ignorant! thousands of innocent children were killed in libya by NATO and Gaddafi forces in a war promoted by the media and power govts. who cares about them? of course we live in a cosmetic world, where stories of facial surgery is far more important than the lives of innocent children and women. check this out and snap out of your soliloquy1 NATO and powerful countries committed serious genocide in Libya in theri quest for Gaddafi. right thinking people believe they used inordinate terror on the Libyan people! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Good-People-of-Africa-and-the-World/295127993845122

this article is about this one spoiled son of gaddafi's. no reason to interject anything else that happens during a war. gaddafi was a loser like saddam, and many other arab leaders that still are losers and whatever happened resulted in bringing them down so it was the correct thing to do.

you talk such nonsence please describe where these thousands of civilians are killed by Nato. If France Britain America Canada had not acted Benghazi would have been destroyed and if you actually have been in Libya then you would not say such nonsence. This story is about this woman who suffered from the gaddafi hand of eveil and i know how good the Malta people are because near end of Feb I travelled by ship from benghazi and these people are very generous to us. So let the anti-nato nonsence remain in some other story, its not how Libyan people believe about this

I'm Maltese, glad that my country helped her. But not glad that we helped NATO kill hundreds of innocent just to install a Sharia-based Islamic government. Very ashamed of my country. Although a dictatorship, the Libyans lived well under Ghadafi. This war was all about oil, and all about the Benghazi criminals wanting to oust a person who did not permit Islamist fundamentalism in his country. And please CNN, stop with the propaganda of trying to put the blame on Ghadafi's relatives on what was done to this woman, UNLESS YOU SHOW US THE PROOF. Your top news should focus on the tortures being inflicted upon the modern hero that is Bradley Manning. Shame on the country that is supposed to be the land of the free.

Aline, I'm a Muslim Woman with a message for you: Aline you will probably escape the police and a prison, but you will never escape Allah. He will indeed hold you accountable for burning this woman and causing her intense pain and suffering, and for burning the hair off her head. So enjoy all your money and your cars and your beautiful homes; but you can not take those things when the Angels come to take your Soul. If you really did this you are a Wicked Witch. I've seen your photos on the internet and yes you are pretty on the outside, but your soul is Ugly.
You better spend your plenty of money to help orphans, help the needy and help the poor so that on Judgment Day this evil deed wont tip your scale and send you straight to the hell fire.

Another blind believer of one sided story.
This will enlighten you a bit on one of the aims of that story:

"30 year-old Aline Skaf from Akkard, in the northern region of Lebanon met her 34 year-old husband Hannibal Gaddafi on 2003 in Coppenhagen where he went to college. They allegedly got married on December 12, 2003, Aline is a Christian and didn’t turn to Islam when she got married to Gaddafi, she speaks French and Arabic fluently, Skaf used to live in Paris when she was a model."

Most Americans put there children first a few stories in the news about bad americans you want to think that we are all bad and we are not all bad. I know I love my country, my family, my job my home. I love America it treats me good and I treat it good. I have grandchildren I would never let harm come to them. I keep them safe with my heart and soul. I love my family. so just because you read a few things in the news about this country don't think we are all the same baecause we are not

...every human being deserves healing no matter what preferences they have in life. What happened to the amazing country of Libya is a crime against consciousness. I am so sorry Libya is in jail now under the dictatorship of IMF and ever stealing Capitalism...

Libya had the real democracy... not like in the West where representatives never represent the people, and never as in USA the homeless who are not allowed to sleep anywhere and get even fined. They do not even have public showers for the homeless. The USA seems to be the most selfish country given their riches in the hand of 1%.

“She worked as a nanny for two of the couple's children .When she couldn't keep one from crying, and refused to beat the child, she said Aline Gadhafi poured the boiling water on her head.”

I am extremely touched by this horrific incident. I felt that that the victim is extremely a caring woman who chose to burn rather than beating a child who needs a hug and the mother is an evil spirited woman who forced a nanny to beat her own sad child to stop from crying. Assume what this mother can do if she is a nanny. I wish a speedy recovery for the victim, and thank all who are supporting the victim in any form.

Not all Muslims are like that, only Sunni Muslims are like that. There are different sects within Muslims as well. Ahmadis on the other hand are very peace-loving Muslims..Just like how jews can be very violent to other sects in a racial way, protestans aren't..the exact same way, Ahmadis are very tolerant of other religions, I for one say this because I am Ahmadi and no Ahmadi has ever blown or stonned anyone ever, instead, we Ahmadis are rather victims of such trauma by other Muslims from different sects, but never have we commited any of such heineous crimes!

    @Faisal Faruqi

Your Islam caused untold suffering to this world, from inception, Islam has been a supremecist religion, Mohammad killed two Jewish tribes in Medina, he married Safiya after her husband and parents were murdered by his gang. He made hundreds of raids (Gazwa) on unsuspecting caravans, taking 1/5th of the spoils of war. Islam spread from Arabia to to Africa through barbaric slaughter, the ottoman Turks raged wars of conversion from Turkey to the shores of Europe, if not for the battle of tours and Vienna, they would have taken a large part of Europe. It is estimated that over 250 million people died at the edge of the Islamic sword, in India alone, the Mughal kings over time killed 80 million Indians in the subcontinent, even Hitler had a Muslim adviser who particicipated fully in killing the Jews (Hajj Amin,The Mufti of palestine.)

While other religions may have violence in them, Quranic verses that ordered a continous war on non-believers are direct and prescriptive, and they are not to be changed by any human, verses like 9:5, 8:12, 9:29 and several more (up to 70 percent of the Quran) condine violence or prohibits stsaying with unbelievers unless they pay Jizya, Mohammad hiself said "i have been made victorious by terror" in a Sahih Hadith. 17,000 terror attack since 9/11, Muslims killing each other in Muslims countries, religion of peace huh.

The problem has much to do with combining old barbaric customs with religion, and the combination forms into what is now practiced as culture. It's carried on fro so many generations that people have no idea that it's wrong.

It seems to me that CNN is become a very Pro-Black organization. Instead of reporting on News for it's face value you are putting an emphasis on "Blacks." Yes! It is great that several men are trying to break into the Silcon Valley arena but you report that these are "Black men." I take issue with this - Black History month is over. Where is White History Month. What about all the whites who started Silcon Valley??? If you become a racist news agency you will eventually follow in the path of the AJC whose circulationb is declining fast because of its racial/democratic policies in reporting the news.
