Sanctuary in child sex village

Svay Pak has a disturbing reputation. The village outside Cambodia's capital of Phnom Penh is known as a place where little girls are openly sold to foreign predators looking for sex.

CNN visited the village after it was highlighted in “Not My Life” which aired on CNN International October 22-23.

Dozens of girls – some as young as five or six - sold or forced into the sex trade are housed in rooms little more than cells.

The young girls are sought after by the foreign men who go to the area for one reason: They knew they could find young girls for sale.

But some find safety in the arms of charities battling the odds like Agape International Missions.

To all of you ignorant people that said Christian Americans...
        1. A TRUE Christian would NEVER do this...It goes against everything we are taught about Jesus.
        2. We do not have the highest number of pedophiles in our country.

So do your homework before making such comments....

PS Most of your countries would have a lot less if it wasn't for USA. We are not perfect, but most of us are good, hard-working human beings. The ones currently in power here do not reflect the average Americans beliefs. If you hate us so much, why are you on a US news site?

The people of the USA had the same problem in the 70's and before.
It is wrong and we all know it. I believe we should take care of our problems
before we start telling the rest of the world what to do.
If there is a god, the children would not be in this position.
What a shame. The other goverments know about there problems
and I believe they make money off of it.

Also America and Europe have laws against this sort of thing. So who are you calling sico?? The rest of the world inbreeds and rapes their children while the indigent turn their eyes. Easy to blame western cultures when we're the only oness who point out the flaw. The rest of the world feeds its perverse hunger in the dark.

the children are used by wealthy "westerners". these could be american, canadien, european etc. the religion of the pedophiles would be a mixed bag as well, since "western" nations tend to allow all types of religion. basically, the people that are hurting these kids are those who are wealthy enough to travel to that part of the world to participate in these atrocities.

any answer you recieve that actually answers your question is useless. Their race and religion are completely irrelevant. All races, all religions, and all socio-economic and goegraphical areas of the world have problems with child victimization and to pretned it is the export of one nation or culture is to tell the worst lie that has ever been told. Namely because it puts the scope of prevention in such narrow terms that it cannot ever hope to help all the children who need help (that's just hope, not to mention actually eventually helping all of those children). The law should punish anyone who does this regardless of ANY other factor besides the victimization of young children.

This is not a nationalistic/religious reality show. Wake up people, be part of the solution, not the problem. Congratulations to CNN for showing this, hopefully it will not vanish with the tide of the news, this has to be a successful campaign until there is evidence of change.

I was heartbroken when my nephew was killed, but let us as Parents, Adults & Educators work together as a team because it takes a village to raise a child, so let us Cayman get back to those days. If all Parents. Work together with the Teachers concerning their child's negative/behavior most of the problems we are facing today we would probably not be facing them NOW. All these affected countries should controlled the entrance of foreigners (especially Men) by creating a database and studying their profile. These foreign men do not do this in their own countries because luckily the economy in their home-countries hasn't degenerated society to this extents. Therefore their access to poorer countries should not be straightforward. At least a VISA should be requested to every single people visiting the country. While we read these news a child has been raped and is damaged done for the REST of her/his life. The lives of many children are in risk and I hope the authorities of Cambodia will choose a happy smile of a happy and free child over the sick fulfilment of a mentally perturbed and damaged foreigner.

I hope CNN will use its power to prevent this to happen to several children. This story can not go to the archives – this story should be used to stop the HISTORY of abuse and slavery. Those who choose to ignore this are as bad as the perpetrators.

Cambodia does require a visa, every time I return to the USA for a vaca, they go through my luggage and computers.
This child abuse has been over with since 2004. It still goes on with Asian men and woman. The only way to stop it, get rid of the present PM. But it also happens in all country's. I really believe that the USA should take care of the own before telling other country's what and how to do it.
