Vietnam court: One-time victim trafficked others

By Jim Kavanagh, CNN

A former victim of human trafficking was one of three women sentenced to prison for that crime Wednesday in Vietnam, VietNamNet reported.

The 29-year-old woman was sold to a man in 2009 by a trafficking ring whose leader is now imprisoned, according to the news service. She later induced 11 other women to travel to China, where they were sold to men, a Vietnamese provincial court ruled.

Prosecutors said she was paid the equivalent of (U.S.) $238 for each woman she procured, plus $140 once the victim was sold to a man.

The woman told the court she was merely playing the role of matchmaker for women seeking foreign husbands.

She was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The other two defendants, who allegedly worked for the first woman, received sentences of five and six years, VietNamNet reported.

Former slaves and criminals need Christian education, not just freedom or judicial punishment.

Bruh, Christians are and have been historically among the worst violent criminals. So, I'm not sure where you're going.

Why would you judicially punish the slaves?

Religion is not the answer. Religion is the reason why we have so many damn wars. These people need education and economic opportunity. Stop shoving your shitty religion down people's throats.

the reason people hate america is because of dbags like you! you think you're so awesome and are living in the best country in the world when america is so full of sh*t and crime. the reason people hate you is because you are so selfish and self-absorbed. americans are hypocrites, take the uprisings in the arabic countries. when there were riots in libya, it didn't take long for the u.s to intervene, but when there are riotings and killings in syria: WHERE IS AMERICA? the answer is simple: syria doesn't have oil!!! it is CHRISTIANS that are helping the poor in almost every country. it is the CHRISTIANS that are killed in muslim countries every day. christians are the ones to first help immigrants when they arrive in european countries not ATHEISTS. it is CATHOLIC PRIESTS that are killed in muslim countries. it is Christians that are being persecuted and killed in pakistan and every other damn muslim country.
the n#1 charity organization is the CATHOLIC CHURCH not judaism not buddhism not islam and certainly not ATHEISTS. so why don't you take your bs and shove it somewhere else!!!

Poverty has led to so much miseries for people and destroyed basic moral values in this so-called modern World. People will try everything for their own survivals. These on-going problems have rooted in China where former victims are promised freedom and even financial rewards for joining and luring more and more newly recruited victims into this living hell.

View Do has the only meaningful comment here: it isn't about morality, it is about money and poverty, and potentially overpopulation as well. Preaching about morality is worthless, because people will not starve in moral superiority anymore. Through TV and the web, they know that others live better, and they want enough money to not be poor – regardless of morality.
