Inside a human trafficking crisis center

Victims of trafficking are often isolated: They're told that contact with police with trigger their own arrest and they're afraid of beatings or reprisals by the traffickers themselves.

The Polaris Project's National Human Trafficking Resource Center, a 24-hour government-funded national trafficking hotline, has become a lifeline for some.

• National Human Trafficking Resource Center hotline: 1-888-3737-888
Hotlines all over the world

In the video, actress Mira Sorvino, in her role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime, helps build awareness of the human trafficking issue and takes CNN on a behind-the-scenes tour of the crisis center.

The standard of morality of the public must be raised by Christians.

If they had it in their religion to do that they would have done it LONG AGO. No, instead they just used it to wage an ongoing war against women, logical thinkers, aboriginal people, and people of other religions. Christians also love to put other people down when they "sin", all the while being just as corrupt and sinful as everybody else, but for some reason they think that all that Jesus talk, and "Amens" covers up all their misdeeds and hypocrisy. It doesn't, and they aren't fooling anyone but those suckers in their congregations.

Obvioulsy you've never personally known a bible-believing Christian, or you wouldn't have that opinion. BTW, you were doing the very thing you accused us of doing

Maurice, the Judeo-Christian teaching alone liberated mankind from all types of slavery. All other religions and ideologies have been wrong and tyrannical. The Western Civilization, thus the entire world, got nothing worth without Christianity. Wrong doings continue because humans are evil. Christian Church keeps fighting for justice and rescuing the defenseless until the Kingdom comes.

WonderSpring – I must disagree with you, and this is a fundamental difference with Christian views versus Jewish views of humans. My Jewish upbringing has led me to believe that humans are good. All that is needed is behavioral/role modeling. Unfortunately various religions view humans as evil and repentance is the only way to redeem one's self. Such a view, in my opinion (and surely you're welcome to disagree – I just hope you're able to understand my view as well) sends the wrong message and acts as a self-fulfilling prophecy.

        But back to Fairfax's point...

I just want to say Thankyou Demi and Aston for getting involved, lets face it when famous people get on board with whatever there passionate about others listen, it's a great platform but we also have to look at how we live our lives, what i mean is what kind of movies are we doing or tv shows, I think sometimes we can be the problem hollywood I mean, guys sleeping with girls, no commiment, we have moved away from the hand of God and there lies the problem, Demi make a comment about teaching our boys, "real men don't buy girls but alot of the movies out are so disrespectful towards woman, Again we all just need to be aware of our decisions

Christians choose different levels of relationships with God and fellow humans. Some people want their souls saved by grace but don't understand the benefits of living without sin. They do not care or understand that sin hurts themselves as well as others. So they hardly even try. Even though some Christians ask for God's help frequently, they still fail to live a sinless life. So they are called hypocrates. Why do people even try to live a sin-free, Christian life? It is this. If you have had the love of a father, you may understand. When you obeyed Dad's rule about staying out of the street, you didn't get run over by a car. God wants to save us from hurting ourselves and each other. Do everything in truth and love. Love God. Love each other. Don't judge. Pray for those who dispitefully use you. When you fail, ask forgiveness. But you and others will suffer the consequences of those failures. Some results of negative behavior could be: STDs. unwanted pregnancies, poverty, public embarassment, jail. I'm sure you could think of more. Even more important than all of these, you will miss out on some glorious time with God. People have a body, mind and spirit. Some people have no desire to have or understand a spiritual life. People who have a spiritual life just want to share about it. To us, it is a precious treasure that is large enough to benefit everyone. If you don't want it, just say no thanks. People have committed all sorts of atrocities on the name of God and Christianity. That doesn't make God or Christianity wrong. The wrongdoers are wrong.

you dont have to look or go far: human trafficking happens right before your eyes: take a

look into the scientology centers in LA or Clearwater (where, as I read FBI is

investigating). Concentration camps (RPFs – Rehabilitation Project Forces), where

unwanted people are held (internet search: mike rinder, marty rathbun etc.) these are

labour camps (similar to chinese laogais):18 hrs work, write ups of "crimes" as

"religious" procedures, rice and beans, 20 or more people in tiny places (I've been in

similar locations in scientology Copenhague), forced abortions (read st. petersburg

times article The Truth Rundown). so why no make this a theme, which is happening

right before your eyes, but nobody taking it up, because US government has a vested

interest in it (since Clinton wrote an article in the scientology hate-pamphlet Freedom –

which is similar to Nazis Der Stuermer).
Scientology is not a religion, it is a cybernetic, military style operated, intelligence

gathering business venture, where the staff are gradually becoming the means (slaves)

which the management can use. all scientologists are deployable agents (roy wallis, The

Road to Total freedom, http://tinyurl.com/6x9e9rp), all scientologists become eventually

    Kampfmenschen (fighting machines without brains).

USA Buddhists have the lowest crime rates. the highest IQs, and the lowest rates of psychosis and neurosis... and they have not been saved... nor do they believe in a one creator being God... next to them are the Jews. The stupidest thing I have ever heard in my llife was on a talk show shortly after 9/11. A caller said the whole solution is to convert every Moslem to Christianity. If you look up the word DOGMA... there are only two such wolrd traditions, while the rest of the world has a live and let live attitude. When a religion encourages their people to play God and also to use their religion like a drug and a weapon... there becomes a huge problem. The singularly phenomenal reason there has not and will not be world peace... is RELIGION

RELIGION is the reason that human beings are dehumanized and demonized to the point that it becomes a tolerable act to enslave human beings and to also kill them!!

How can word about this hotline best be spread through communities?

If you were posting signs that gave out the Resource Center's phone number, where would you place them? Hospital emergency rooms, convenience stores and community centers come to mind, but the distribution of these vital numbers needs to be vastly expanded.

    Share your thoughts!

I live and work for a us company in kuwait evry day i heard the stories of woman being beat and given little food no salary, and raped. Why is no one addressing this issue. I was recently asked to be a partner in a resturan and there were philippino and philippina workers there who were runaways because either they were beat or accused of stealing or the Baba the man of the house tried to make advances on the philippina woman. then if they are arrested in the street the police take them to a private flat and rape them. why and how is it the us and other countries continue to do business with Kuwait and ignore the violations of the foreign workers here? my wife is a phlippina and i will not let her come to kuwait and we both have been in Iraq together but when it comes to kuwait i will never allow her to be witness to the crimes that go on here every day, and kuwait is the most corrupt country i have ever seen. I have been trying to get a phillipina woman released from jail here for several days now the police just keep moving her from jail to jail and say tomorrow tommorow. this is an outrage if we treated these people this way in the us everyone in the world would be on our back to stop it but the UK and US sit idly buy and watch it happen .

Most people in Mexico don`t know about the CNN Freedom Project.
The wealthiest people in Mexico have maids from villages in Oaxaca.
They really treat the young women like slaves.
The government does nothing about it.
