Actress Demi Moore partners with CNN Freedom Project for a compelling documentary.
A passionate advocate for victims of human trafficking herself, Moore travels to Nepal to meet 2010 CNN Hero of the Year Anuradha Koirala and some of the thousands of women and girls Koirala’s organization has rescued from forced prostitution. How were they taken and where were they sent?
Hear the emotional, first-hand experiences of these young survivors. And follow along with Moore as she searches for answers in the fight to end this form of modern-day slavery.
Along the way she hears horror stories from former sex slaves, plays games with their children, and joins one woman making the daunting trip home.
The group also has a hospice for women with HIV-AIDS, a learning center for women hoping to make a new life and a band of border guards trying to stop women being smuggled in the first place.

Can you post Nepali Time too? Please
Are you people seriously arguing about something irrelevant to this specific blog. This blog is to comment on the documentary and modern day slavery. Not for you to be ignorant racists to each other.
People like you are the reason we will never have peace. You really need to get your perspective on what's important in life checked. These are some harsh words yet you throw them around not worrying about the impact they have on others. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs just respect each others.
Not ALL are arguing,.
Respect must be earned, not borrowed.
ya really i agree tat
Ugh. These comments are all a bunch of obnoxious, ignorant, hateful filth. How can CNN publish them? Whining about how much you hate Demi Moore for trying to help trafficked women? Get the bloody hell over yourselves and do something useful with your lives!
Images we see around the world of Haiti is NOT of a paradise it looks more like shit hole! Sorry to burst your bubble..LOL!
it is much of tired hungry, and devastated people just waiting to be helped and rescued by
charities from around the world, This is exactly what all countries involved are doing! If you do not wish helped, You must do something instead
of wagging that nasty tongue.
how come we do not see your faces on front news doing something for your struggling countrymen??
Do not make this race or religious issue because it definitely is not, It is very sad situation but
people like iLuv8t and Mearder who are ignorant and uneducated who put Haitians to shame by arrogant comments!
Stop!! or be ready to get trashed here just like the way your country looks right now!!~ Shit Hole...
By the way..Baggers cannot be choosers!!!!
I am from Mexico. Last year we sent a ship with humanitarian aid to Haiti after the earthquake. This was shortly before the Swine flu outbreak (scare I should say instead) that started in Mexico. Haiti rejected the cargo from Mexico out of fear that the merchandise could carry the disease. We are already used to this kind of ungrateful attitude. Just do good and don't expect any reward or recognition. If it comes, it's fine. If it does not, it is Okay also.

I AM AMAZED THAT DEMI MOORE, A HOLLYWOOD MOVIE STAR THAT HAS ACTED IN SO MANY DISTASTEFUL 'WOMEN' ROLES CAN COME ALONG AND TRY TO EMPOWER THE TRODDEN DOWN COMMUNITY. HER MOVIE 'STRIPTEASE" IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF HER CONTRADICTION AS WHAT SHE WANTS FOR 'WOMEN'. ANY WOMEN HERSELF WHO DECIDES TO EXPOSE HERSELF, ESPECIALLY WHEN HAVING YOUNG DAUGHTERS OF HER OWN, SHOULD BE QUESTIONING HERSELF ON WHAT KIND OF AN EXAMPLE SHE IS SETTING.....FOR THE WORLD AND HER FAMILY. ON THE OTHER HAND KRISHANA GYANWALI SHOULD BE COMMENDED FOR HER WONDERFUL WORK AND IS DESERVING OF THE PEACE PRIZE.
My thoughts exactly, those girls have nowhere to go, look at the place, then along comes Demi.
I DON'T KNOW WHY DEMI IS HITTING THE ROAD ALL THE WAY TO NEPAL FOR A STORY. WHY DOESN'T SHE JUST SEARCH ALL THE BARS IN AMERICA WHERE WOMEN ARE BEING EXPLOITED 24/7. LETS FACE IT, ANY WAY YOU WANT TO LOOK AT THIS REPORT, DEMI IS OUT TO MAKE A NAME FOR HERSELF. THERE'S NO HEART IN THOSE FAKE TEARS IN MY OPINION. IT'S SHAMEFUL OF HER TO THINK THAT SHE CAN BE SOME SORT OF AMBASSADOR TO DOWNTRODDEN WOMEN....CLEAN YOUR ACT UP FIRST BEFORE TRYING TO INSPIRE OR EXPOSE OTHERS!
And thats not counting all the extremely silly stuff her husband does. these two represent the epitomy of a self centered fun life and they go to Nepal for a day to get serious, oh well.
Just curious...what have you done to help?
Demi and young hubby had handcuff jewelry crafted and sold them to benefit this cause....however.....THEY KEPT 50% of THE PROFITS. Here are two rich people that advocate for something but can't "GIVE BACK" as they would ask us to do. I tire of people like them.
"Actors, thriving on publicity, have historically claimed for themselves the right to champion 'causes,' the term of art being 'Their' disease. This hucksterism may, in fact, have done somebody good, and more probably, did harm to nothing save the actor's understanding of his place in the world...these happy dupes reward themselves for feeling superior to their own country..." why else than a career now in the rear view mirror and a boy toy husband's own career taking off. We at least have from her a film on stripping.
there are about 30,000 girls solded into the USA from Mexico every year. we need to clean up our own backdoor
first as allway the USA trying to fix a problem that it cant fix at home.
CNN Freedom project should focus on Africa & Asia
Where do you think Nepal is? South America?
Its in south east asia.
Actually, South Asia
I guess no1 picked up on it but I 'm pretty sure GC is being sarcastic.
Cool down GC.
>Where do you think Nepal is? South America?
I'd ask your schooling record.
nepal is an asian country, not in south america!!!!
hey GC where you from yaar you don't know where is Nepal its a wonderful country in the world http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepal
its where mount everest is
hahaha ... Nepalese people don't understand sarcasm ... the sarcasm in Nepalese language is more insult type sarcasm than question type ... GC is only being sarcastic ... lol!
Agreed, we might see a modern day reverse lynching if they focus on Africa, go for it!
World Premiere, Sunday 26, New York/Miami 8 PM then
Nepal Time is Monday 5:45 am.
The time posted from ROMAN is correct!
Nepal time is +9:45 hrs ahead of NEW YORK world time.
Greetings from Kathmandu
I watched the promo on CNN. It said the time to be 2300 PAK and 2330 IND. So, I suppose the broadcast time for Nepal is 2345, 26 June 2011. Stay tuned to CNN.
Your\'s is a point of view where real intelligence shines thruogh.
how come these stories don't show 2 clear realities – 1) Nepali political protection of the traffickers and even at time political parties benefiting financially from such trafficking, and 2) most of the trafficking is happening to India where such slavery exists, what is Indian authorities doing about it? CNN should throw its weight behind these core causes.
What happem to the trafikass? After the victimes being free.
Good question! Especially given the fact that there are several "traffickers" involved in any one single trafficking incidence and the records show that MOST of them are not prosecuted and hence walk free!!
In reality, this is world-wide problem. Even in places like New York. So many young women and underage children (runaways) in this country wind up in big cities and are sold into prostitution and drugs.
It is only a matter of degrees. It may be more in India, than in Nepal or New York City.
But it is problem nevertheless.
Addressing the same issue in the U.S. doesn't get the Hollywood types the headlines they so crave.
i agree this is a worldwide problem in various degrees, it is more a matter of stopping the men (im sure women at times too) who are buying these services. its the mentality of people that needs to be stopped and changed so there is no market to exploit the women. i think its called having a moral standard, does anyone remember what that is and has this world ever had one? victimizing women is animalistic, we are human beings we are supposed to know better. lots of prayers for the world is needed.
Very true. Well said and excellent point
true.. most of the countries in the world are affected by it. A country can be affected as a origin, transit or final destination.
I'm glad that CNN has finally eyed on the different social, economic and political problems prevail in nepal
I support CNN's Freedom Project to end any sorts of modern slavery. What about you?
no, not me
hahaha, you didn't need to type that. a blank post would have sufficed.
...you know, because it'd still have your name which tells us everything without you even opening your mouth.
I like slavery. Makes things cheaper. :)
Your an idiot!
that means you have a sad life or no life at all...
The USA Constitution and Declaration of Independence stand for freedom; it might be a good idea to remove that from your screen name, because you have nothing to do with the USA. And no, slavery does not make things cheaper; it makes Americans lose jobs, so that they cannot afford to buy anything, but we still have to pay our high prices for food, rent, mortgage, phone and internet fees, healthcare, college, etc. etc. etc.
Like none of you shop at Wal-Mart. All of you love the effects of slavery. You are just not willing to be un-PC and say it. :-P
wow! are you fore real??
I was told when I was about 5, "If somebody asks you a stupid question, give them a stupid answer."
very nice..i agree tat...)
Over working people without paying them their due wage at the right time is the modern day enslavement.
Not quite true – if you are being overwored and underpaid you can leave. Slavery is a situation where you are either intimidated into staying or are physically or legally restrained from leaving.
Grias Eich! In Ke4rnten wissen alle Balloner schon, dass ihr auf Nepal-Tour seid.I glab, sie san a bilasse neidig denn: jeden Tag startet a Ballon um fcber die Berge zu Euch umme zan schaun! Lieben Grudf Susanne
As BBC news reported a few years ago, there is a thriving sex slave industry that generates over 20 billion us dollars per year. The situation in Nepal is a tiny slice of that. Thanks CNN for reporting on the problem in Nepal – i look forward to seeing this program. Please do a major report on the 20+ billion a year sex slave industry that is thriving in the western world, and largely ignored by the big politicians... who cave in to pressure from some billionaires who are involved in illegal and immoral activities – like the sex slave industry.
I agree. The problem exists right here in our backyard. Solve it here first then worry about other countries.
Don't instigate people and learn to use your words carefully. Respect others so that others can respect you. We are all human beings, and we should be able to care for each others, rather than making racial comments.
It's nice to have freedom of speech. :)
Humans are just basically animals...maybe worse. :)
Racial Comments? Nepalese are a race, and get over it, "racial" means refering to race, not neccessarily in a bad way, however some Races seee abuse in a different light and should be exoposed as such.
Nepal needs freedom of conscience(religious freedom) and literacy. Literacy rate – 48%
Literacy is tricky in Nepal. The "Hilary Schools" (set up by the first British climber of Mt. Everest) was meant to give education to all, but these schools have been used less for education than for indoctrination. Nepal has different factions: Hindu, Moslem, Tibetan Buddhist. Some have a traditional desire for literacy. Some memorize without understanding how to actually read. Across the world, education needs to be consistent. When I hear about schools in the U.S. that cut back hours, take away courses, do not have the support of the parents or communities, or raise the cost of higher education and get rid of requirements such as history, I think of those countries that fell into illiteracy, and how those countries have fallen apart. We should take a cautionary lesson from this.
just to correct: hilary is not british he is from newzeland.
I agree that education is something that can help to curb sex trafficking. However, education is not only the solution. Literacy rate in the Philippines is over 90%, but the sex trafficking in the Philippines is worse than Nepal. I guess socio-economic problems in the society are also associated with sex trafficking.
Thank you very much CNN Freedom Project. There are many Nepali slave prostitute in India. There could be many more in others countries too. Your this kind project is indeed a rescue mission for all those poor girls and women. Please, do more to liberate those women and eliminate the flesh trafficking for ever.
This is great i would like to thank CNN and actress Demi Moore from the bottom of my heart for throwing light to the world about this major problem and taking great steps to help my country in a humungous way. I would love to support as much as i can and keep up the good work
You know I love how willing Demi Moore and Ashton Kutchner are to lend their celebrity to address the international issue of human trafficking. But I'd really like to see them use their "powers" to help domestically. Everyone wants to help the kids you see in the poster, looking sad from some poor country. But no one wants to give a damn about the girls, and boys, in our own country who are sexually exploited as well. There are more domestic victims of human trafficking domestically in the US than there are international victims in the US but the majority of resources are devoted to the minority of victims. The issue shouldn't be focused on domestic versus international but treated as one in the same. Give damn about kids in our own communities, cities, and towns.
You said it yourself.
It is one and the same, saving kid here is the same as saving one some other place. But education and dollars, etc go much farther in developing countries than say in Ohio or NYC.
Some things like food & water shortage, sex trade, drugs, child abuse, medical help, natural calamities have no borders. Helping any way, helps, be it in NYC or the Sudan.
It's not how far the dollars go in the U.S. It's the sense: do we want to make college only affordable by the rich? Do we want to get rid of curriculum such as history in colleges, so that students do not know about such things as slavery anywhere? Dollars and sense. And NOT voting for people that take away all our resources to line the pockets of the very rich. I'm in Ohio, and teachers cannot collectively bargain; our parks now can be drilled for oil; waste water from Pennsylvania is pumped into our ground water: all to keep the top percent of people in Ohio from paying taxes. Our state will be a moonscape before people wise up; but do people want to see the real consequences of these policies? It is much easier to see an example in a foreign country, and ignore what we are doing to ourselves at home.
they're busy with nepal. YOU do something about the local problems, SoxFan. The time you spent typing that complaint could have been used making a difference here. Not intended to be a slam – we all have the ability to make a difference, not just the celebs.
sorry, but seeing Demi's face makes me care about the subject a lot less, must be her association with Ashton Krutcher, who I can only see as Kelso even in real life.
I am pretty certain the victims of sex traffikers feel the same way about your face. I am sure you are doing so much to help from your lazee boy with that bag of cheetos sitting in your fatty middle american pntificating lap. What the hell have you done to help anyone A Hole? Left snarky comments on CNN about people who are far more proactive than you or I? GO DRINK BLEACH.
Good one Barry! That guy is loser who doesn't care about anything else but daydreaming of women he can't get. The closest he got to any girl must be off the internet.
We should put public pressure on the companies in Asia whose business customs include freely handing out gifts of sexual services to their business guests. Of course, the receiving party's employers deserve public scrutiny as well, especially since a very large number of them are American and European companies.
Many of the sexual providers involved are young girls (and boys) and because many of these Asian companies are doing so well financially, the sex traffickers they depend on can expect a very steady, and growing, source of demand.
Will we be able to watch this online for international viewers who don't have CNN?
This is a great step towards awareness. Thanks to CNN for attempting to bring the spotlight on this topic.
And as for all the racial back and forth comments here, it is really sad that some people just don't get the gravity of the news at all. People need to learn that there is a time and place for everything.
What horrible comments from such horrible people. What do you think because your white you don't smell or spread disease and germ? Obviously you need a slap in the face with the book, Perhaps it will help educate you ignorant people. This blog is about helping and what not yet we have people on here posting the most negative comments I've ever read. Step off this blog if you have nothing good to say. If your so concerned about the way things are run, then I suggest you join the the peace corp and make a difference in the world. Stop blaming others for your hatred that comes within. Wake up in the morning and smile for once cause you never know what might come your way.
Thank you CNN for bringing this very important issue and educating the world. I am very dissapointed that so many people here are talking about useless topic instead of blogging about the news. Please take your racism and ignorance to somewhere else and take responsiblily for your action.
Only non-white and gay people spread diseases...lol. :-D
You are pathetic and should not be commenting here.
Sorry you aren't white. ;)
I think the Demi Moore supporting Hollyfags need a little "Muslim Hospitality" in America
At least she quit making movies and found a real hobby...
I wish she would give up the serious hobbies and make more movies showing skin while she's still looking good!
"CNN welcomes a lively and courteous discussion as long as you follow the Rules of Conduct set forth in our Terms of Service." HAS ANYONE ONE OF YOU IGNORANT, ILLITERATES WHO HAVE CHOSEN TO BASH ONE ANOTHER IN A RACIST MANNER, TAKEN ANY TIME TO REALIZE THAT WHAT YOU SAID HERE IS THE VERY REASON OUR PLANET IS IN THE SORRY STATE ITS IN?! FURTHER, PERHAPS YOU SHOULD READ THE FIRST QUOTE I POSTED HERE FOR REFERENCE. IT CLEARLY SAYS THAT A "COURTEOUS DISCUSSION" IS WHAT IS ACCEPTED HERE; NOT THE VITRIOL AND HATRED YOU FROM THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES HAVE SO DISCOURTEOUSLY POSTED HERE. MOST OF YOU, NOT ALL, BUT MOST HAVE TAKEN THE LIBERTY OF NOT ONLY SPREADING HATRED ON THIS FORUM, YOU HAVE DONE IT IN SUCH INCREDIBLY BAD GRAMMAR AND IN SUCH AN EGREGIOUS MANNER I AM ACTUALLY EMBARRASSED FOR YOU. IF YOU CAN'T STICK TO THE TOPIC, THEN KEEP YOUR SHARP AND HATEFUL TONGUES IN CHECK AND SHUT THE HELL UP! YOU HAVE NOT EVEN BROACHED THE TOPIC OF THIS FORUM AT ALL: WOMEN IN NEPAL ARE BEING VICTIMIZED, SUBJUGATED, OBJECTIFIED AND DESTROYED PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY AND IT IS APPALLING!!!!! NO ONE SEEMS TO GIVE A CRAP HERE. BUT I BET IF ONE OF YOUR DAUGHTERS, SISTERS, MOTHERS, ETC. WERE TO BECOME A VICTIM OF THIS ATROCITY, YOU WOULD MORE THAN CHIME IN ON THE ACTUAL TOPIC! SHAME ON YOU ALL WHO HAVE USED THIS TO SPREAD YOUR IGNORANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a born and bred New Yorker, and I just took a verbal bat, not "bait," and beat the crap out of ignorance. Yes, I am most certainly angry because of how women are treated in these places - you betchya PANDA. That said, I'm feeling much better now...LOLOL :D
Shut the hell up you senseless loser
I think you forgot the 's'. :)
Glad we could get rid of all that build-up tension. ;)
It's ok for you to be angry. You live in New York. For you,the light at the end of the tunnel is Jersey.
Dear Rambolina, you so impress me how well you elaborated and enlightened on comments posted. Thank you!
Just so you know, the Ganges is considered holy by the Hindus not the pakees. Step outside of your hole and learn a little about the world before you make ignorant comments.
i think the subject here is nepal's stolen childern; a truely humanitarian but not religion.
Bravo, Demi and partners and keep up the good works!
I remember this lady, I saw her in the CNN special for CNN heroes. she won and I got chills up and down my spine. Incredible the work she does and the women she saves If I ever meet someone inportant in my life time I would love for it to be her. the other CNN hereos were as well great for what they do but this ladies humbleness realy shook me to the core. GOD BLESS her and her work.
There is plenty of human trafficking going on right here in the U.S., yet ironically, no one gives a hoot because for some reason going to Nepal to stop human trafficking is more politically correct. Hundreds of thousands of people from Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatamala and other countries are lured to criminal smuggling rings who steel their money, kidnap them then hold them hostage in the US until their families pay ransom demands. When demands are not met, girls are raped, fingers are cut off and sometimes these folks are killed or forced into slave labor. The human smuggling rings are in cahoots with many farms, factories, etc. to provide cheap labor in poor working conditions. Being a nation who looks the other way to the atrociities associated with illegal immigration will go down in history as a sin as big as slavery. Shame on people like Demi Moore for going half way around the world all the while ignoring what's goin on her own back yard (literally).
missy, you little selfish troll...you care...YOU do something. Don't complain about people not following YOUR agenda when YOU'RE not following it YOURSELF
So, don't vote for people who look the other way. Seriously, the power of the vote has been ignored.
Elderly people, whose birth certificates do not have their parents' names on them, if they move, and don't have a driver's license, might find it very difficult to register to vote. A whole city: Washington D.C., does not have any representation in Congress. These are treated as non-citizens. Those in Indiana who cut off the ability of poor women to get healthcare because they were getting healthcare from "Planned Parenthood" (which does a lot more than abortions), are the kind of people that import slaves to work in hotels and elsewhere. Our border guards are told to look the other way when a big business brings in its slaves. People have to stand up to these rich slave owners, not let them into your churches, your clubs, and especially do not vote for them for any office, local, county, state, or national. And then demand that the justice department stop these practices.
Hello? How about doing something about human trafficking and abuse in THIS COUNTRY?
It wouldn't be PC to talk about that. ;)
It is nice to note that worldwide famous American celebrities like Demi Moore enthusiastically engage in efforts to help human trafficked victims. We should give her our big hands. On the other hand, such modern ills may not be eradicated but can be largely wiped off by helping theunder-previlleged class in every society, by handing down harsh punishment on criminals without any mercy speedily.
I am happy that this is out in the open but we should not wait until a celebrity does something for us to care about these serious situations. Human trafficking has been going on for years n it doesn't matter if it's here at home or over seas pain n sadness is the same wherever you are. As for the ignorance of people leaving stupid comments are people that have nothing good in their lives so they start dumping their failures on others. GROW UP!
Has crawled back under the toppled building??? LoL.
The real problem is sexual addictions of all types! Some people get hot and bothered by animals, some by children, some even by infants! SICK, SICK SICK! People need to learn respect for all people's bodies including their own! A person has a God given right to be a virgin until she or he dies. People talk about having control of their bodies, but the first control is the absolute, God given right to say no to sex for any and all reasons.
God given right? God is just a big kid with an ant farm. He isn't handing out any rights. ;)
I disagree with the person who said that religion should be kept unmentioned when such questions as the present one are discussed. The more he or she studies History, the more one sees the filthy role played time and again by those who view Daughters of Eve as responsible for all the bad things in the world and treat them accordingly... feeling self-righteous about it. Whenever you see or read ab out a woman stoned while her "sinning" partner goes free, the more you see fathers or uncles killing their precious girls in the name of family "honor," the more you can see products of the myth of original sin: blaming some for the crimes of others, making every non -male human being a target of scorn, exploitation, discrimination and all too often, death.
I could say a lot more but I have already said it in all my books.
Sales pitch to buy your books...lol!
I think I'll go back to my ivory tower. It's named WORD
ya gotta watch those niponese!
Oh how I love the beach too, Nina! I love the sounds of the ocean as the waves roll in and break along the shore line. It is wferndoul to hear that you and your family hada great time there. You will have to share your pictures with me soon!
I wish these US celerities would think of these people as more than a tourist item and publicity stunt. What the hell is her goin to see them going to do? Firslty the US should fix their own social problems first, they have one of the lowest moral values in the world, (proven by stats on nationmaster.com) Second her going to see this made absolutely no difference. So get a real approach, and pressure the Government of Nepal and other similar countries into appropriate sentencing.
Kill the animals on spot. Problem solved.
Agreed if the following:
Uncle toms = Animals
Americans/Europeans = Animals
One woman cared enough to take the time to give her support. What have you done lately?
Send me a few million dollars and I will pick up a nice PR hobby too. :)
What is wrong with you? I have been reading the posts and you seem extremely disturbed. Sex trafficking needs to be stopped no matter where it occurs. Attacking someone doing something to bring worldwide attention doesn't help. Join the campaign and be positiive. Shout out for it to stop. Ba a voice for freedom and not mocking.
this story is proof that people will do anything for their own needs.
I good pandemic is what this earth needs. I would say a meteor but the rest of the animals do not deserve it.
Isn't Ashton Kutcher America's Stolen Child? I mean... look at Demi, there is more botox in that face than a cowhide... you gotta steal the likes of Ashton for him to fall for you.
Demi lookin good in red
she looks good in (or out of) anything! ( . )( . )
After reading so many of CNN's articles on modern day slavery throughout the world, I did my own research and found some outstanding organizations that are working to stop human trafficking. I just joined IJM (International Justice Mission), but there are other organizations: Free the Slaves, Not for Sale, Polaris Project, the Covenant Homes ( in the US) etc. If we all help in any way that we can, we can help these victims of human trafficking, and put out of business the monsters that are forcing these girls and boys into prostitution and slavery.
How about stopping modern slavery called outsourcing?
How old is Demi? Like a hundred? Freaking COUGAR!!!
The heart of the market
In these movement patterns, a significant destination is Europe, which possibly has the highest prostitutes-to-populations ratio – alongwith the USA.
Commercial Sex – bigger than movies and music
BBC reports that “in Britain, it is estimated that some £770m ($1.2bn) is spent on prostitution every year, more than on cinemas or many other forms of entertainment.” In Switzerland, prostitution “generates an annual turnover of SFr3.2 billion ($2.65 billion).”
Strangely, there are no cross-country, comparative reports on marriage and prostitution. The modern West, which seeks to measure every aspect of life (they call it econometrics) especially if it involves the Third World, has done no such study on prostitution and marriage.
Another report points out how “the influx of peace-keepers and other international personnel may lead to increased trafficking of women and girls for prostitution”.
In some parts of EU, prostitution is recognized as another profession with a State taxation policy in place. For instance, “5%-10% of the estimated 20,000 prostitutes in the Netherlands pay taxes.” Belgium is considering “estimated 50 million euros a year. It represents an attractive option for a country currently struggling to balance its budget deficit”. At “€14 billion-a-year prostitution industry”, Germany is the biggest market by value, for prostitution.
Interesting that econometrics study doesn't include the "professional" trade demographics in our country, and yet it is recognized in some others. I wonder where we could find the data from those other countries where it is recognized (and accepted?).
please refer as a starting point:
The modern west founded by neanderthals that killed Native Americans and enslaved, raped and killed black people like animals.
adamBATTAGLIA Posted on whit, your pictures are lluenievabbe. sure, i'm really jealous but also REALLY JEALOUS. congrats on what seems to be a successful trip so far. can't wait to see the show.
Rambolina and All,
The issues are what we need to discuss. What can we do and how can we do it? We discuss with reflection and respect for our values and depth of background. Join a group, care and bring about change, small or large, encouraging and caring. We've all got something to give, as long as it is giving toward a common goal.
Another shallow celebrity who thinks they know more than you and is going to tell you how to live your life.
Yes Dan....another "Hollywood Harlot" that contributes to the sex slave problem by showing her naked body to the world in her nasty films. She's using these poor people to get an education so she can make another movie & millions to use on a new mansion, cars, partying....etc.....she's not fooling some of us.
The best way to stop this trafficking is "Put a VISA system in-between these two countries" Or some kind of identification system. I am sure not only trafficking lot of problems gonna solve "like drugs, smuggling, money laundering".
But of-course will create problems to Politicians bank balance.
Nice concept gurung ji
Easier said than done, dai ... sharing almost all the border with India makes it really complicated to implement VISA system. Moreover, Indians are also trafficked to Nepal. It goes both ways. And we rely more on India for survival than our own country. VISA system will endorse more taxation and service charges ... more human resources at entry check points ... simply put, we are too poor than Indians to afford border security and VISA system.
The project is really great to give victims a voice and make others aware about their situations inorder to help them or even take precautions for themselves.
nepal is country located in between india and china. Rich in culture and natural beauty.it has got 8 tallest mountain peaks among 10 in the world(including Mt everest). place where gautam buddha was born.Any body who asks where is this country or is it the city of italy naples seems to have really weak general knowledge.Regarding "nepalese and racism" there is no any racism violence accounted so far in nepal.
any way regarding the programme the trailor seems to be interesting. i read about the documentry around 5 months ago in Nepalese local newspaper when cnn team was in nepal for shoot. Then the newspaper stated it was really emotional when sold mother meets her kidnapped and sold childern in nepal afer rescue effort from maiti nepal (NGO of cnn hero 2010 anuradha koirala) which made demi moore to call her daughter in usa right away.
I'm sorry...i really dont usually respond to this stuff! but if everyone treated each other the way that god says to treat each other this would not be an issue at all. the problem is we have removed god from everything and do things by our own human standards. and god loves us all... every race just the same. we should all treat each other with love and respect and this world would be a better place.
If something good happens, it's god's will. Something bad happens, god moves in mysteries ways.
This is the 21st century. God is dead. We have replaced him with greed and science.
I wish you'd stop bad-mouthing and posting nonsense whatever here. if you don't care, then stop reading the whole thing. FYI, God is not dead. May he bless your soul, if you still have one.
Wow Demi, you could've saved yourself the trip and only driven 20 miles south to Compton where people need a lot of help too!
A roof over my head; a plate of food before me; a loving family to support me; I have nothing to complain about compared to what's happening in the world around me. I have no idea, and would like to give others a chance to feel the way I do, or do my best to support any cause. ... and that's pretty much it, my little speechy thing.... hope it helps, if not, oh well.
this documentary of 'girl traffiking':one the major problem around the world, will raise public awareness in the people and stir them find solution for it.
@USA Panda : Which animal you belong to then ? I'll pay you full payment cash and sell again for lowest price.
Panda's are prized animals. Zoos love us and the children can't get enough of us. :-P
It's a noble thing she's doing, but since there are millions of just causes to fight for around the world, I wonder why she dosn't look in this country to help fix the many problems we have in our own back yards. You can't take care of the world, if you can't take care of yourself.
Nepal needs a voice. Im sure Demi isnt doing this for popularity. Who are we to question her motives? Im glad she has the influence and guts to go out and find a solution to this problem. Lets focus on this issue and not on Demi
I would eat grapes from Demi Moores Bare Naked Napal
Almost every week, my hometown newspaper reports the arrest and/or trial and/or conviction of human traffickers in my city. The Houston Chronicle reports that my hometown is one of the hubs of human trafficking for the United States. Being a port city, and thanks to our previous mayor, a "Sanctuary City", human traffickers flourish and their trade is lucrative; VERY lucrative. This scourge has to be fought on ALL fronts; in this country, and its countries of origin. Human beings are going to be one of the highest-price commodities in the times to come. The enslavement of people has been with us since time immemorial but we can help stop it. We MUST stop it.
Please listen to the introduction session when CNN introduces Nepal, I do not know how come everyone has to refer India when introducing NEPAL.
because our land resides in Indian subcontinent ... there is no hate message involved what-so-ever. Canada is in North-America doesn't make it in the United States. even though technically we can call Canadians Americans since they are in North-America ... but they prefer to be left alone ... nonetheless there is a huge difference: Canada: Smoked Meat, Celine Dion ... USA: Pastrami – Twinkies, Lady Gaga !!! :P
she looks absolutely horrible
and I bet you're a real head-turner.
what does that have to do with the issue? if you're so good looking yourself why dont you do it instead?
ya i think India Gate will be better place but there is lots of peepols n crowd will be there na so i need open silent place any other place can u suggest..???? 0Was this answer helpful?
If she really wanted to bring attention to this cause she should do a topless photo shoot at the very least. Or make a porn a donate all proceeds. Otherwise she is just some celbrity tramp looking for a photo op and then it is back to hollywood.
?????????????? Smug behind your PC?
e.l Posted on For one thing unless they're peblishud you mean writers'.Only you can decide when, as it needs to fit round you and your members' schedules.
there you go. porn. topless photo shoot. you guys are sex-crazed maniacs (well not every one) but people like you who cant say anything nice and who cant even see the real issue should just shoosh up.
I can see how selfish humans can be and ignorant Listen at least one person like demi can try to help others because she wants too ..she has all the luxury and doesnt need too help a 3rdworld country if she doesnt want too....But her heart and conscious is in a good place....remember these woman and children are defenseless humans.....Anyways what are you going to do the rest of yourl ife....i hope when you leave from this world where we are one....you will be remebered forthe good things and so will god recognize you!
I'm with you!!! Go woman power!!!
Thanks CNN and the people who support to eliminate this girls trafficking in Nepal which is very bad !!!!
We all with you !!!!! Stop this Girl Trafficking !!! Freedom :) For Everyone
Don't say 'we'. :)
is panda a new virus, who's causing a lot of dismay, somebody get rid of this..
Anyone recruiting girls for a 'job' should be investigated and if he can't provide proof that indeed he's legitimate should be whipped or caned publicly Singapore style. This would force him to reveal who his accomplices are. This approach will educate the public and it will deter would be slave traffickers.
Ahh Demi Moore...bringing Botox and Facelifts to the people of Nepal.
Who ever put Demi Moore with this? Doesn't she have a history of 'selling herself' on TV & in movies? What kind of role model is this? I have to laugh....what a joke...a completely serious subject and you have a hypocrite for a partner...whose bright idea was that? Why not someone that's truly interested in the subject who hasn't pimped herself out?
Super infomatrvie writing; keep it up.
Congratulations to Demi for bringing light to this subject and creating a film that will bring awareness to this cause. Last year I documented on the front lines of sex trafficking in Nepal for Free the Slaves organization. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher attended the opening of my photographic exhibition and book on modern day slavery at the 2010 Freedom Awards in Redondo Beach, California. Please visit this work at http://www.lisakristine.com and check out my blog on the topic http://blog.lisakristine.com/sex-trafficking-nepal.html#more-184
Thanks CNN & Moore, Help them out...
I can\'t belevie I\'ve been going for years without knowing that.
in Nepal more than 12,000 ppl get trafficked every year... and this organisation "Maiti Nepal" has been doing great work since its establishment over a decade ago. Hats off to Maiti Nepal. I had the opportunity to go to the main office in Kathmandu and from the look of it, they are doing wonderful job. The government should learn from this organisastion..
Please CNN, the trafficking stories are all so sad.
But , obviously, you chose Nepal ,because that useless peice of S*#T of a former actress
Demi Moore has no acting to do ,so she decides she needs something to do with her time. She NOW she wants to be a, humanitaion.(remember Angelina who is truely An actress and humanitarian)
Making a documentary is a way of exposure which DEMMMMI needs (badly) now that hubby is working and she obviously is not. CNN I love your journalism but be more selective. Human trafficking is a much larger problem in Asia
Now now, show some respect mister. Our country which has relied on foreign aid to survive ever since it was f*&ked by illiterate politicians have no rights to complain if helping hands are willing to sacrifice their time and resources on us. Demi wanted to help, so she came forward. Brangelina couple wanted to help, so did they. Fame is like wielding two edged sword. It cuts both ways. If they don't help, they are criticised for being selfish ... and now if they want to, we blame them for wanting more fame ?
quite interesting....CNN should carry on...this issue must never be ignored
Respect isn't something you can borrow....nor is it something you should "have" to earn. Respect should just be out of human decency something that ALL people should natural do. Racial comments are true not welcome here and should be voided. Its pieces of crap like them that keep this world from evolving into a better place. The U.S does try to crack down on human trafficking as there are articles on CNN speaking for farmers who traffick illegals for their work pretending the will become neutralized here in the U.S. Educate yourself a bit better before posting something that isn't entirely true. One step to making things better anywhere about anything is better than no step at all.
last time i checked pandas were black nd white. And from China. I hope this strange breed here will bcome xtinct fast.
GOD Bless Anuradha Koirala, CNN & Demi Moore! Words won't tell enough how thrilled I am by the CNN Freedom Project. I am truly inspired! Together we can make the world a much better place.
Why do "superstars" always have to rush in and put their name stamp and tag onto the works that others have done? Before this is over Demi Moore will the the face of this womans hard work..
Why couldn't she have just stayed in the background as a producer of this show? But no, she has to be on camera too... making some kind of "humanitarian" name for herself.
i don't see that Demi Moore is trying to make a "humanitarian" name for herself. i watched the entire special and in all humility she admitted to Anouradha Koirala that what she has done to stop human trafficking is so small. we just have to accept the truth and reality that we need people like Demi for us to be aware just like Princess Diana on HIV/AIDS and Mother Teresa on Poverty/Dying & Destitute. But I am sure that Demi Moore is really involve & sincere and not just making a name for herself. Also, I want to thank her for making the whole world aware of human trafficking & poverty.
Being a Nepalese, we don't care who is on the spotlight. As long as the welfare is done and people are saved, we could even worship her as a God. It's a win win situation. She gets famous, earns reputation. Brings in more charity and saves more people. :)
Does anyone if they will post this online? We don't have a cable so I can't watch it, but God has given me a heart for this country and I really, really, really, want to see it :/
what is tat i did nt understand hong kong time and new york/miami is same what is tat?

i think the problem of human trafficking is getting worse through out the world. so, we should come together and proceed to stop the human trafficking. it's a good effort from the cnn, making precious documentary named, 'Nepal's Stolen Children'. thanks to the entire team for such a good and serious effort.
Demi Moore is now an ICON OF LOVE & CHARITY... hey guys you may post anything negative or bad about Demi Moore here, on Facebook or Twitter... that's the price she has to pay now that she is GLOBAL SUPERSTAR. Remember guys that no matter how you look at it for many Demi Moore made something remarkable. Don't be envious guys and don't forget that envy is a sin.
Demi Moore just earned a lot of respect.
its 21.50 now in abudhabi.... wts the procedure
in Nepal, it is being broadcasted now...so people from nepal can change their channel to cnn and watch it....
American AUBREY SACCO missing in Nepal since April 2010. Please go to http://www.aubreysacco.com
Dear Jennifer Biernat,
Sad to hear that someone was lost in the Himalayas. It is extremely hard to find a lost person in those areas where an accident could only mean death. If she is gone missing for more than a year in that high altitude, there are extremely rare chances of finding her. My guess is, if she came across Nepalese Army barracks in remote places alone, or Maoists barracks, the chances are that she was probably raped and killed. I pray to God that I am wrong and wish that she'd be found.
maybe CNN can be of help, sorry for your situation, prayers being sent
sorry to hear that jennifer, although there are rescue teams for the trekkers and climbers in himalayas of nepal, it becomes extremely difficult to survive in case of accidents. himalayas of the country are really challanging. did you asked help for nepalese police via your embassy?
Missi you are a dissgrace......you feel the pain felt by asian women and children are less to others...........the reason people like Demi moore and many more people go to Nepal is because of Anuradha Koirala and her fight to end this sex trade and slavery....................hey why dont you be the next Anuradha koirala of all those places you feel bad for.......Its real sad that things happen close by here in the US and I understand you are mad.... BUT .how is it that sex slaves in poor countries hurt less and dont deserve the HELP you SELFISH TROLL. If there is anyone like Anuradha koirala in those places you mentioned...BELIEVE ME TROLL....people will help!!!!!!!
where can I watch the full documentary?? I couldnt find it anywhere.....please and thank you!
@ Reena – Did you ever find the full documentary anywhere online? I really want to see it, and share it with my students. Thanks!
where can I watch the full video of this documentary?? i cant find it anywhere...please send me a link or info if you guys know...thanks!
i missed it ... does anyone know the link??? if so plz let me know
PLEASE, PLEASE CORRECT OR CLARIFY THE FINAL STATEMENT OF THIS ARTICLE. TRAFFICKING DOES NOT EQUAL SMUGGLING; THE 2 ARE DIFFERENT CRIMES AND NEED TO BE DISTINGUISHED, AS MANY PEOPLE CONFUSE THE 2. OFTEN SMUGGLING CAN INCLUDE TRAFFICKING OR TRAFFICKING CAN INCLUDE SMUGGLING, BUT THEY ARE SEPARATE CRIMES. THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT A PERSON DOES NOT NEED TO BE TRANSPORTED TO BE TRAFFICKED. THE PIECE WAS VERY WELL DONE; PLEASE DO NOT RUIN IT WITH WRONG TERMINOLOGY.
ALSO, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS OCCURRING CONSTANTLY IN THE UNITED STATES. SOME SPECIFIC FACTS MAY DIFFER FROM NEPAL, BUT THE BASICS ARE THE SAME. WHAT TRAFFICKERS HIT ON IS VULNERABILITY (WHETHER POVERTY OR YOUTH, ETC.) AND FROM THERE–THE METHODS OF CONTROL ARE NOT THAT DIFFERENT. IT IS NOT A DIFFICULT CRIME TO COMMIT, AND RELATIVELY RISK-FREE FOR THE CRIMINAL.
This is how it works:
Demi is in. She drags attention. The news spreads. People say: "What's Demi doing there?" ... More people know. Twitter, facebook help. Media says: "Awe ... " ... People watch the show. Money is generated. So is TAX. Avoid Tax by charity. Charity goes to Anuradha. She helps save girls. The show is success. Everyone is happy.

when will this be showing again?
dose any one knows that when it will be re telecasted in Nepal???
Thank you to the team of CNN, Demi, and Anuradha for shining a light and giving voice to these innocent young girls. I watched this documentary with tears in my eyes knowing that far away from me are young women living in hell all because of trafficking. I remember Anuradha's last comment, "what if one of those were your daughters, how would you fight?" and I pray that we can stop this human epic against humanity forever!
what was shown on Documentary is Just surface level..deep inside its by far the worst..!! trafficking, sex slavery, child Labour etc..are the countries big problem our of many.!!
Hello, so many people are asking me when Nepal's Stolen Children will re-air or how they can watch it. Can you help me with this?
Once again, we see a "Hollywood Harlot" who made her millions and got her fame, by showing off her naked body.
She is part of the sex slave problem. She puts her nasty self out there for the world to see and lust after.....then the men who are driven by lust seek out sex anywhere they can get it....thus, she helps fuel the sex slave problem. Now she wants to look like some kind of do-gooder by joining the fight against the sex slave industry. PLEASE! Most likely she is getting an education about all of this so she can make a movie about it, show off her naked body again, and fuel more of the sex slavery problem. She's using these poor women – mark my words. Before you know it, she'll have a movie out about it.
i would like to help the fight against modern slavery. How do i go about it in Ghana?
Hiya I don't have CNN and also missed the Nepal's Stolen Children. I really really would like to see it, but don't know how. Could anyone help? ta
Obama is GUILTY of failing to address the ongoing SLAVERY problem in our country and globally. Obama has made it worse by talking like a typical ignorant black person incapable of comprehending that SLAVERY is bad when it happens to white people and women too. And children. We liberals need to not use the phrase "modern day slavery" because it waters down the issue. Slavery is slavery. FUCK OBAMA for going to Africa and saying Thank God Slavery is over. Factually untrue and VERY DAMAGING to the cause of ending slavery. Note: from the day Obama was inaugurated up until this moment more people have been brutally victimized by slavery than in the totality of those in the USA African phase. Think about that. Our WITLESS lazy affirmative action "president" apparently needs to be educated FIRST before the rest of the nations.
it was wonderful to see this issue being brought into light; Demi did a wonderful job presenting the brutal yet heart-touching story and of course, Ms. Koirala has been doing a commendable job since the inception of Maiti Nepal. lets continue to fight and speak up against all things gruesome as trafficking!
IF YOU WANT TO HELP go buy some artisan jewelry on the interenet from overstock.com from the villages of nepal. Money is what they need.
dear angela, i dont understand you want a business, humiliate others country or interested in this documentry. Nepalese village dont sell any goods via online. I have been to nepal myself. country is very beautiful, honest and good peoples. there are religious sites, natural beauty, challaging sports. you might have been here from your unemployment insurance and couldnt get outside than kathmandu vally being short of money......
if i lived on that desolate mountain i would go offer myself to get out, can not even imagine a life on those muddy streets, just saying there is a reason this type of thing occurs. it is third world under developement and the only way out is to go through the fire it seems. demi and her friend can only address a sympton, they need to change what is causing this, maybe Ashton can be helpful in changing mens attitudes but I thought he just stepped in for Charlie Sheen right?
Demi Moore? Really? She was inarticulate and she looked drugged out like an old Angelina Jolie – the skelton/botox look was so distracting! It's like a car crash – you can't stop looking at the bones and face and wondering if it's crack or heroin stashed in that purse she holds so close to her. Sorry – the story is compelling but with the wrong messenger. This is a 50 year old woman who tweets bikini clad pictures of herself to the world – not saying much for respect for women.
mQ^-^ Posted on hey, recently I'm just sratted to make a music blog too : )you should find unique name and easy remember..I knew it is hard, because mostly names are not available..
powerful story...could not stop crying...
Why is this not being shown online???? If it is, what is the exact weblink to it? I have waited to watch this for over a month, and went searching for it only to find it was only on cable/satellite . I'm in rural Korea, I don't have cable.....
.Poor girls .What kinda world we live in.What a sad story i was crying so much.Demi More did such a good job to bring attention about trafficing girl.
The story is so moving, u r true heroines to the victims and to the world, kudos n be abundantly blessed.
ahmedistight on June 21, 2011 Guys! OwnagePranks slouhd call a chinese restaurant with that accent and make a huge order then cancel it. Then he slouhd call back with a different number to the same restaurant with his regular voice and make the same order and act like he doesnt know what the asian guy is talking about if he gets mad. Thumbs up so people can see and hopefully OwnagePranks will do it!!!
well i have seen details in CNN channel today and iam very happy that people like anuradha powdyel , Denom more is there in the world. but i looked at the comment posted by different people which is very sad. but never get hoploose there is some one who alys look at you. why people are not appriciating what othere people are doing. if you cant feed 1000 people just feed one. and if u all cant do dont judge othere also. if you cant help dont harm also.
Will this documentary be aired again? When will it become available in libraries or online to view or purchase to view?
Will this come on again?
mera pyara daju bhai haru....kripaya kasaile yo documentary torrentz ma haldine kasta garna saknu huncha,.......dhanyabad......
Just be thankful or appreciate what Demi Moore is doing even if she has different motives. There are hardly any people who speak for women's rights in Nepal. People in Nepal hardly help those girls or women diagnosed with aids and treat them worse than animal. So just be thankful and don't criticize them. Yapping or criticizing through your computer and sitting on a chair is easy. When times come you wont even help those women at all.
its really nice .... i enjoy whenever i can do some thing for children ..... u guys r great. i wish ur long live.almighty bless u.but i have a plan to some thing for bangladeshi street child or slma people who r really undone.
I'm very deposited how Ms. Moore and CNN had become so naïve on facts about sex trafficking,
human exclavery for sex and money and human sold for money among family members as a tradition that had been used and in placed for over 2,500 years. Is this right, maybe not? But does we (US) need to tell other countries what is moral, ethical, right to other countries? Please, “Bible verses about Getting Your House In Order. ... That is why the USA is look down on from the other parts of the world is we stick our nose in telling them how to live in there country
If Demi Moore will contact me, I am available to help.
Abnormal this post is totaly uneelatrd to what I used to be looking google for, but it surely was once listed on the first page. I suppose your doing one thing right if Google likes you enough to position you at the first web page of a non related search.
I don't get why anyone would treat a person like a toy that they can rip, get dirty, and break. All of us are equals, and I think everyone should treat each person like an equal.
I don't think that lying or mistreating people will get you anywhere. In the end it will just hurt you and the people you love.
So what I want to know is how a twelve year old girl could help out?
I want to help change this world, and make it a better place for everyone.
Think about what would happen if someone took (stole) your child and made them a slave, or sold them to other people. How would you feel about that. Traficking could happen to anyone. So

slavery exists in our day and age. we need to at least try to do something about it. i cannot change the world but if a can at least make a difference in one person's life it would be worth it. my advice to all readers: try to save at least one person.
It's odd how here in the US when a celebrity lends his or her name to a cause, and travels to a place most of us would never dare set foot in, much less for a humanitarian reason, suddenly people sit down and start typing on their laptops from the comfort and safety of their own homes, to completely blast them for it with every negative bit of so-called 'news' they've ever read in a tabloid or seen on a tv celeb gossip show.
there are about 30,000 girls solded into the USA from Mexico every year. we need to clean up our own backdoor
first as allway the USA trying to fix a problem that it cant fix at home.
i will bet demi was getting something out of it are she would not be doing it for sure
There are some interesting points in time in this article but I don't know if I see all of them center to heart. There is some validity but I will take hold opinion until I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we want more! Added thecnnfreedomproject.blogs.cnn.com to FeedBurner as well
Lets not interfere on where the clearance of slavery was suppose to start from infact frame the mind by thinking atlest somewhere in the earth it has started.things will be even better if (the projects) keeps on progressing n safe/acknowledge awareness to ppl round the world
