I'm from Romania. This is a very interestind documentary. But that's something funny there: in the second video Bogdan' s son actually says:"My dad is not innocent. And this will be proved." not what he really want' s to say: "My dad is innocent." Without wanting he says the truth and proves how stupid is he.

How large a problem is this in Romania? I'm serious about this question. They may not have been there since more than 100 years, but I have roots in eastern europe (Ukraine, Romania, Russia, Austria, Lithuania).

Who may not have been there for more than 100 years? If your talking about Romanians, they've been there since Dacian times, that is pre-Roman empire time and even before that. The Romans intermixed with the Dacians and that is where the name comes from. A tribute to our ancestors.
As to your question...unfortunately prostitution is a great problem all over Eastern Europe.

Solving Poverty — The Islamic Way Nonie Darwish, Front Page Magazine
“We are at a time of Jihad; Jihad for the sake of Allah is a pleasure, a true pleasure. Mohammed’s followers used to compete to do it. The reason we are poor now is because we have abandoned jihad. If only we can conduct a jihadist invasion at least once a year or if possible twice or three times, then many people on Earth would become Muslims. And if anyone prevents our dawa or stands in our way, then we must kill them or take as hostage and confiscate their wealth, women and children. Such battles will fill the pockets of the Mujahid who can return home with 3 or 4 slaves, 3 or 4 women and 3 or 4 children. This can be a profitable business if you multiply each head by 300 or 400 dirham,. This can be like financial shelter whereby a jihadist, in time of financial need, can always sell one of these heads (meaning slavery). No one can make that much money in one deal (from hard work) even if a Muslim goes to the West to work or do trade. In time of need, that is a good resource for profit.”
by Abu Ishak Al Huweini, A well known Islamic leader in Egypt who often appears on Egyptian TV, has recently said the above in Arabic and I have translated it into English.

When I heard this audio message, I could not believe my ears. This is nothing short of barbaric and medieval preaching by a powerful Muslim leader in Egypt who has access to public TV and the ears of millions. This sheikh, who is at least honest and unapologetic about what jihad means, is also promoting the true model and example of the prophet Mohammed in the 7th and what he did to non-Muslims, as an example for all Muslims to follow today. Isn’t that the role of a prophet, to be the example to his followers?

To Sara,Your concern are well voiced and well digested,I am of the view of what you posted here and different steps has been put into consideration.I advised before you post something of this nature you should put into consideration the content and the individual that has said it.Different things happen around the globe and they are either based on religion or government interest. The US will present a plan which is totally different from there views, things are done based on selfish personal interest but they all act on what we see them to be.
You should not conclude your article on "promoting the true model and example of the prophet Mohammed in the 7th and what he did to non-Muslims, as an example for all Muslims to follow today. Isn’t that the role of a prophet, to be the example to his followers?"

You need to see beyond your eyes limit and then you know what's going on around the world"The Hague court has indicted Mladic for genocide in the 43-month siege of Sarajevo and the massacre of 8,000 Muslims in Srebrenica during the 1992-95 Bosnian war."
Could you believe this man have people praising him and asking the authorities to release him?
How many news have you read on how Muslims are being killed, raped and even leave with there fate to survive in the time of hardship? They are not being giving the voice they need.

What you mentioned are the words of a disturbed individual, and from personal experience there are many out there. In no way does this one individual represent islam.

Yes, sex slavery is a big problem in that part of the world. The question is "What I can do about it", and not " So what, I have bigger problems".

Sex slavery never ends.Women have always been an object of desire. Its heartbreaking to hear such horrifying events in modern era.The worst bit is to be born in a poor family. These girls and women have no choice but fall into the trap of sex slavery.Nepalese girls have been sold across Indian Borders for a meagre price. It can never stop unless the government enforces strong and strict law on them.Every country should have some common law for this issue.

Yeah Jimmy, bury yourself in the history books and learn the real facts, your dark skinned brothers were not just rounded up and taken away by slave traders, the truth is they were SOLD to the slave traders by your very own ancestors who did not want them, criminals, undesirables and the like. You never picked any cotton, just like I never experienced the living HELL my Father went through fighting in Europe during World War Two to protect the liberty and the country you so comfortably live in now, sitting at your keyboard, bitching away about realities you know nothing about. You are lucky, if your ancestors were not slaves you would not be here, you would still be in Africa, turning a little stick in the mud and trying to scrape a life out of a dry and bleak landscape. Shut up and consider yourself fortunate fool!

JIm, stop being hateful because it will not take you anywhere. Truth is whether we are white or black we all have experienced some form of abuse. Abuse is abuse and it's not a respecter of age, color, belief, etc. If this problem in Europe (or anywhere else) doesn't bother you at all, then what will? This is a fight against evil in our society. We do not want to respond with apathy or disgust to the victims because they are, well, victims! whether white, brown or black! Let's go after the perpetrators. not after those who feel strongly about this issue, like some of the readers here. We care. that's all.

And another point, your race creates its own problem here in the states, the fact that a lot of you dont want to work, have no common decency and little command of the English language create an even larger widespread problem. Many African Americans here have no desire to fit in, do not desire to work and are obligated to think the way that you do, that the World owes them something. The influx of Asian immigrants who came here with nothing and are now a powerful economic force here proves you wrong, your race card is lost. The last resort for you is to blame it on your own DNA, which of course comes from a very SHALLOW gene pool. Case Closed.

Jim! I have no idea where to start with you, but I do know that your attitude will not be changed by my comments. They are too ingrained in you for anything but death to take them away. Somebody or something has made you this way. It could be the way that you were raised or an event that happened. Either way it doesn't matter. You have allowed yourself to become a BIGOTT and nothing else. This is what you are viewed as when you make comments that are unfounded and demeaning to a race as a whole. Our own people enslaved us! Whitey, as you would say, just made the purchase. By the way, our people would have been sold somewhere else had whitey in america not bought us. You might find that when you look at another person as a person and not a color then they tend to do the same for you. Also, as a educated southern black man I can tell you that slaves were often not treated as badly as popular opinion believes. If you own your own business, your not going to ruin the equipment that makes you a living are you? That is exactly what slaves were viewed as! Equipment! So, in turn many slaves were treated relatively well because MASTER wanted money and a slave that can't work because u beat it, starved it, or killed it can't make you any money can it?

    June 23, 2011 at 3:09 pm | Reply

In fact, many slaves took their owner's last name when they were freed. Some even stayed on the plantations and collected a wage. As a matter of fact, I am a descendant of one of those "brutaly mistreated" slaves that decided to stay and work for a wage. Have you heard stories passed down by mouth from that time? I doubt it! I have and have heard of stories both good and bad. Slaves were beat normally beacuse they ran away and they ran away for many reasons. Not just because they were mistreated. A slave at that time cost roughly 40,000 dollars in today's cost. I hate to break it to you, but I would beat the hell out of somebody if I caught them stealing my 40,000 dollar car. What's the difference? Either way it is viewed as a theft. By myself and the slave owner. The movie Roots makes me cringe because it gives uninformed people a hollywood verson of the truth. Remember it's called a Drama for a reason. They add drama to make it more dramatic.

This is very interesting. I went to university in Egypt (AUC) for two years and I recall seeing a family of street children outside, they would harass you for money but were awfully nice, and you couldn't help but love them. It came to my attention a few times that their family prostitutes them out for money, although I am not sure. It's a difficult topic, and a well-kept secret among families who participate in such businesses, so I guess I'll never find out until they get caught.
