Reports: Woman gets three years for abusing Indonesian maid

In what some say is a first for the kingdom, a Saudi woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for abusing her Indonesian maid, according to Saudi media reports.

The woman was sentenced January 9 in Medina, the reports said. According to Saudi Arabian daily newspaper Al-Watan, the employer, who was not named, was sentenced under a new royal decree issued to combat human trafficking. FULL POST

Feds nab suspected human trafficker in Connecticut casino

A suspected human trafficker who recently was profiled on "America's Most Wanted" was arrested at a Connecticut casino, federal authorities said in January.

An Soon Kim, 52, was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agents on the floor of the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Kim, alleging she engaged in a wide-ranging human trafficking ring operating throughout the northeastern United States, the agency said in a news release. FULL POST
